Im more inclined to consider the overheating then this with all that beast of hardware they have in there. I mean the audio hardware alone is a beast.
"We don't provide the 'easy to program for' console that (developers) want, because 'easy to program for' means that anybody will be able to take advantage of pretty much what the hardware can do, so then the question is, what do you do for the rest of the nine-and-a-half years?"

Wait what? The bull$#@! is strong in that one. Delay due to licensing? SERIOUSLY? Have the hardware ready, release locked, once the license is in place, unlock with a FW update.

$#@!, MS is playing in the big leagues, they wouldn't delay for such ridiculous reason.

This thread needs to be closed because the article on which this is based has absolutely no foundation in truth. It states:

According to the source it looks like Microsoft is having trouble getting the Blu-ray license for the new console mounted player (because, apparently, of some kind of long time Sony exclusive to the console market), and this caused a delay in the time to market.
Sony has no such exclusive. In fact, Sony is only a bit player in the whole Blu-Ray consortium. This is simply a site trying to drum up hits and a member here trying to stir the pot.
I don't need no stinkin' signature!

That sounds stupid lol. It's high times for editors, they're all having a ball with all those hits coming in. Can we blame them? That's what they do.

I agree but lately there have been plenty of similar articles. No need to close this one when others are just as hilarious and no confirmation. All this will be ironed out very soon.

Blu Ray consortium license VC-1 from MS right?

i think so. I doubt that this rumor is true. It really doesn't make any sense.

If this actually is true (which I highly doubt) and Sony is behind it, I want to see MS yank all Windows licensing from Sony for their laptops. With the financial straights Sony is in already, that would kill them!

I'm sure there are laws out there to prevent something like that. It's like having a shop with items for sale, you can't pick and choose who you want to sell it to. It would be like discrimination.

Sames goes for the Blu-Ray...which everyone knows Sony doesn't own, just has a part-take in it.

Is it a DVD drive or their own proprietary?

Aye? Why would you like to see that?

Sorry, but you can't assume that. Sony had brand loyal buyers and they didn't wait for the PS3.

On a side note I'd love for Sony to release a laptop with Linux on it so I could grab it cheap then I'd just install Windows 7.

The original Xbox shipped with a DVD drive that didn't have the licence to play movies, wouldn't surprise me if it happened again.
With the way Microsoft advertises they can sell less it as a positive.

Still just rumours / wait and see tho,

It wouldn't bother me one bit if it didn't play BR movies. I stream all my mine anyway. I don't think it would bother most gamers because BR players are dirt cheap nowadays.

I've never watched a movie on my Xbox in any form, so I don't care about bluesy playback. But they really should be using Blu ray disks for games

Yeah I usually just stream my movies on Netflix. Just as long as the physical games are on BR.

2 bs rumors in a row. PS4 didn't come with this much baloney built in, but a laugh is good for the soul I guess.

Except I think it's about time all consoles had one so the games were on it too. I think next-gen is going to need it more than this one...a lot of open-world games probably.
