.22 rifles are very good choices for first gun. And damn that is an older model. lol Like you said though, there is almost no recoil, the ammo is dirt cheap, very little risk of hearing damage, and the guns are usually quite simple to clean, and maintain. Which is good for learning.

Pistols of that caliber are also very good to practice with at an early age, then slowly build up to a .357 magnum.

Oh yay, more ammo for senators, especially Florida senators.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. I played Duke Nukem 64 when I was 9 years old and I played it alot. I'm 23, going on 24 and I still didn't shoot up a school or felt the need to kill someone just because they were annoying me. If whoever works this case makes the videogames a scapegoat, then they're stupid.

    Wow.

Wait, he tried to rape his mom, snapped out of it, and THEN shot her? Or he tried to defile her corpse, and then 'came to his senses'?

It's sad that such a young kid can become so $#@!ed up at that age. I don't know if anyone can be blamed really. Maybe the parents should've noticed SOMETHING, but who expects their $#@!ing kid to do something so horrendous?

I'm not even sure how I'd handle this case to be honest. What he did was reprehensible, but anyone who tries to rape their mother clearly isn't right in the head.

It's easy to see how someone can dismiss that.

BTW To those saying the COD caused him to do this, it's $#@!ing stupid. It's been proven time in and time again that video games don't cause violence. There was something $#@!ed up about this kid. I know a lot of my friends that played shooters at a young age that didn't end up shooting someone or are even remotely violent in anyway. Threads like this seriously piss me off.

I will guarantee that if this was my kid, I would have known a long time ago that there's something wrong with him/her. But it wouldn't come to that point to begin with, obviously they're not telling us something or they likely just don't know what sort of environment they had.

Yes, it's the parents' fault. Just raising them isn't good enough anymore, you have to be fully involved...I also blame parents when their kids get bullied and the parents of the bully for not knowing that as well.

    goes on a lot

my kid goes in a strop if i ban him from playing games, he just goes in a huff though, he doesn't try to rape and kill me

its the parents fault , and the kid needs help , the father should be jailed and the kid sent for extensive counselling

The kid has had mental problems for years but the parents go ahead and buy him both a gun and a violent video game. Didn't they as parents once think that this was a ticking time bomb?

Unless you had well over a few thousand friends that played, it doesn't matter at all. You can't say it doesn't do anything to anyone because your friends didn't kill people. Its ridiculous to think like that. Its like saying smoking doesn't kill because I don't know anyone that died because of it.

Yes the kid was screwed in the head. Now adding something like a video game that can be extremely frustrating, where you kill thousands of people, could have done him in to commit such an act as killing his mother.

Did it? Who knows. Could it have? Absolutely.

I'm not saying it is. But to completely deny any chance of a game where you murder people is idiotic.
