    lol, Anyways they must be planning a worldwide release for those numbers, especially considering how they've been doing until recently.

    Sony shipped around 6 mill PS3s in the first year. They blamed shortages on lack of blue diodes for their BDs.

    I'm guessing that the weakest link in Sonys supply chain would be the ps4's gddr5.

    Sith, could you quote the article in the OP ?

    There's no chance Sony will meet demand for the PS4 this year. That baby is going to fly off the shelves.

    Just hope Sony knows this:

    They already own Japan and EU market so that is no suprise that they will go for US with PS4, only stronghold of xbox.

    I could argue that Sony's got more to gain with all of their PS4 "early birds" getting their preorders..

    Yeah... I would make nothing of this "news". About the only company that could produce something at this scale is Apple and even then they would not want that much stock tied up in the shipping pipeline.

    They will be lucky to get 2-3 million out for launch plus about another million for the next month (assuming November launch). That's not a bad thing at all mind you, fairly good for a system launch.

    Don't expect 360/Ps3 peak of life sales figured per month for a long time.

    As a company you also try to drag out mass shipment until parts hit mass market pricing.

    They own the Japan market but pretty much share an equal amount of Europe.

    360 has a bigger marketshare in the UK as well. Theres a thread on it in the PS vs 360 section.

    ^I can't google for more than 2 minutes so here:
    http://www.vgchartz.com/weekly/41399/Europe/

    But that is not only , everytime I visit Shopto.net or zavvi.com, generally ps3 game sales are on top and I visit those sites once a week at least.

    LOL@VG Chartz. The thread I told you about has a marketshare chart from an accurate source. I'd link it but this browser wont do that. Easy to find in the PS vs 360 section though. Right on the first page.

    if you meant this one it is only one week scale isn't it? if it is not the thread you mentioned , there is no other except this thread but it has no sale reports.

    which has this comment of Soldier 95B I hit it by chance but not hurting posting here, right?

    PAL or not, the PS3 leads in Europe either way. Though the margin is small. Last numbers showed the PS3 was leading in Europe by about 2 million.
    On christmas, Xbox gave awesome deals for UK and Turkey, don't know the rest of EU tho. This may boost game sales for now.

    Didn't get you about vgchartz, sorry for noob question but are they not accurate?

    VGchartz aren't inaccurate, they just take longer to update their stats and aren't real-time.

    Japan, yes absolutly.

    EU meh, its a mixed bag, UK is dominated by Xbox, elsewhere PS3 has lead.

    Basically....

    PS3 =EU+US+JP
    360 =EU+US

    Sales are a tie, so whatever is in Japan (7.5 million) is the difference between EU+US figures.

    In other words, MS has about 13 million lead in US, which means Sony has about a 5.5 million lead in EU/ROW.

    Either way you dice it 360 has and has always had the wood on PS3 in the western market.

    One thing I think has been missed here is that if Sony were talking to suppliers about shipping schedules then surely they were speaking in terms of fiscal years rather than Calendar years. In that case Sony's fiscal year 2013 doesn't end until March 31, 2013. That would make a 13-16 million estimate entirely plausible.

    Also I think the "shipping PS4s" is more likely "shipping parts" in June for pre-production test units, with large scale shipments of final parts starting in August. This would work out to a late October to early November launch with as much as 6-8 million units shipped by Christmas.

    I don't know, but seriously now. When was the last time Sony achieved or exceeded expectations?

    After everything we heard in february and with e3 announcement about the price, specs, and availability and the direction SONY has taken with the PS4, selling 15 million units till march14 could be a realistic target.
    To have 16 million units available at start would be incredible but really hard to achieve lets see what Sony is capable of.

    I expect mass sellouts, mass sell out. Preorder or miss out for 2013.
