    PS3 not dying!

Well, as I have been expecting it since last summer. It has been passed 4 years since Sony fixed my old 60GB PS3. Now for sure the solder balls are melted under the GPU and CPU. As I have said and posted before that I have started my liquid cooling project for my phat PS3. I will keep it as the PS4 won't be able to play those old games. My PS3 now it's turning off by itself. A yellow light appears and then blinking red. But after I press the power button my PS3 works just fine. But again after 7 or 9 hours same thing happened. I remembered when first I got the yellow light problem. after turning on the PS3 it wouldn't less for more than 6 seconds. Should I fix it or leave it until it die completely? Because I want to buy the water blocks and liquid system but I don't want to spend money and it will be working without reballing both chips..

No guarantee the water cooling will be any better.
I would just invest the money into a new slim PS3 and flog the old one, you say it works for a few hours which is long enough for someone to see its not completely knackered.

I think by reducing the heat the PS3 can less for long and I do have a slim PS3 but it can't play PS2 games. No choice must keep it and I bought a dead PS3 which I was doing all the test on. I want it to fully die so can I re-ball both chips but its not happening man.

How powerful is your PC? PS2 emulation has come along way with decent PCs running games in 1080/60 AA the works.

You could always go old school like me, original hardware PS1 and PS2. It's not like either of these sold poorly and are hard to find, haha.
16+ years on and my PS1 is still kicking like it did day 1.

Indeed my PS1 still works and is chipped so can play backups so the original disc stays clean and tidy in its case.

Finally my beloved PS3 it has died again today and when playing any games or doing the sync trophies. It freezes and turn off by it's self and then red light flashing. I just called Sony and they have lowered the price from 190 CD to 145 CD. I will fix it again and get it back in few days.

Not yet. Until the new system comes out and all the games will be coming on it and then it will be dead.

i donīt think so. Have u seen what AAA+ games will be release this year ? The Last of Us, Beyond, GT6, Kingdom Hearts Remix, FFX HD Remake, Demon Souls 2, Puppeteer just to name a few. Itīs almost insane that at the end of this year weīll see already next gen. I would have no problem to jump over to PS4 but Sony decided that i cannot play my PS3 games on it. The more i think about it the more i get mad at Sony because they reduce my excitement for PS4 with that.

After updating my firmware from 360 to 441 on fat PS3 60gb my blu-ray player stopped working at first i thought it was coincidence then i took my other PS3 running 3.60 removed blu-ray from 441 and placed it in the 360 and it worked perfectly.
Contacted Sony support they outright denied that a firmware update could do this, then i checked the Sony forums and found dozens of people with same model having same problem.

I have been repairing pcs for 30 years and also have a background as an electronics tech and know for a fact that a firmware update can cause these types of problems due to different models of PS3.

Also in slim models it is causing stability problems games are locking up in some instances even games bought at store played off hard drive lock up with black screens.

Also with 441 update there is an annoying buzzing on the audio just after the update on my PS3 fat 60gb the hum was so bad same thing looked at forums dozens of people with same problem again.

Checked NA forums people with 3 month old ps3 are having same problems and now on EU forums there are reports of the same thing happening.

Some people are effected different ways some after rebuilding indexes can getting it working for short periods but games still crash.

    http://community.eu.playstation.com/...8837314/page/7
    http://community.us.playstation.com/...233535/page/17

So most people that only use their ps3 a few times a year due to low amount of games getting released are having this problem seems if you did update from 440-441 no problems but 300-441 causes massive problems for some reason.
