Tales of Symphonia (and Sequel) Getting PS3 Remakes

A Tales of Symphonia remake has been teased for the PlayStation 3.

Series boss Hideo Baba hinted that the classic RPG will arrive on Sony's console alongside its formerly Wii-exclusive sequel.

The Tales of Symphonia: Perfect Edition will be packaged with sequel Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World, with both games featuring newly updated HD visuals.

The game will be "a representation of the dreams and hopes of the fans, who have long been wanting it", Baba told Spanish site Koi-Nya.

This is all well and good but don't Nintendo own the translation of Symphonia hence why the PS2 version was never localized? Just before some of you get your hopes up for this leaving Japan.

Has this ever been backed up or just speculation over the years for why the PS2 version wasn't localized? Considering the US version was still published by Namco I would had assumed they owned the translation.

This is good news! How long has it been since I played, Symphonia?!

I just hope that it does get localized for the west.

Will this be a 2D HD game? I'm really excited and hopefully it gets a US release.

There once was a man named Sidney, he used to collect shells on the beach. everything was going well for him. untill he stopped and took a look, he had a glance and a stare and realised he what he was reading.

I have my GC copy of Tales of Symphonia as well. I don't know if I'll bite on this, unless of course Namco opts for a Vita version.

Currently playing? Skyrim (360). White Knight Chronicles (PS3). Majoras Mask (Wii). Final Fanasy VII (PS2). Just completed? Final Fantasy VI.

Id be mildly surprised, and happy, if this gets localized. Though Id rather have the PS3 version of Vesperia localized

Well it'll be based on the PS2 version I would think with all it's extras so those who only played the GC version still have something to look forward to.
