Just going to throw this out there as a Web Dev, you are better off in virtually every way by using Chrome or Firefox. Please, make my (and those like me) life easier and download one of those two- or both!

Internet Explorer is a festering pile of suck that ought to be purged.

Now granted, a site should be extensively tested on all three major browsers. What version of IE are you using?

If it's older, such as IE7 or even IE8, than it's kind of on you to really find a solution. Web developers cannot realistically be expected to support archaic versions of the major browsers for their sites. There should be a 'cut off'. Where I used to work, that line was IE8.

Now I realize that it sucks for older Windows users, because you cannot get the latest IE version unless you upgrade your OS. MS sucks pretty hard. But as I said, there are superior -free- offerings out there literally at your fingertips.

IE is a part of windows. Therefore I don't see anything wrong with advertising for IE.

And you didn't mention anything about the Chrome browser ads.

Microsoft provides more backwards compatibility than anybody could realistically expect. This isn't a valid issue to criticize them on.

And somehow I have a feeling your comments aren't based on IE10, but on older versions of IE.

Yeah I'd take the simplicity of Chrome over Firefox, it loads faster for me too.

Chrome is fast but doesn have all the options I want. Also doesnt ask "you sure you want to close" when multi tabs are open or highlight the last link clicked when opens in new tab/window.

What my friend doesn't know about this sort of stuff can literally fit on a postage stamp. He is paid to know so I do not have to. If he wants electrics done he comes to me and doesn't question my skills either.

Well I highly doubt anybody could amass a useful amount of electrical engineering knowledge from wikipedia. That isn't the case for browsers. Also I'm fairly sure it is hard to be biased regarding electrical circuits.

Chrome does have issue's like all browsers.. But with the simple parts, it is the best until something new version comes out or a completely new browser challenges it

I've tried Chrome, it's too simple for me. I will always stick with Firefox, I just find it much more powerful and customisable to my liking.

Stop it you guys. Internet Explorer has plenty of reasons to use it. For example, you can access the Internet to download Chrome and FireFox.

But to be completely honest, Internet Explorer has a lot of weird incompatibility issues with displaying pages properly, especially if you magnify the page.

I agree. The majority of the world is running it. Doesn't mean it's the best though.

Everyone too their own browser, one can like one's browser and others can like theirs...

We do not judge here, but INTERNET EXPLORE, please take a picture of yourself and remember the fact you use it still

I have both Chrome and Firefox. And yes it's blatant the majority of people prefer these two browsers but for me they run more slowly than IE so I am a lot happier using IE.

And I use IE 10 so there's no excuse really.

Well, if you don't like Firefox and Chrome, you could pick Opera - really great browser and underrated imo, then there's also Apple's Safari. Me? I've been using Firefox from 2007 at least, imo, it is by far the most flexible and powerful browser for the modern web. I'd use Chrome, but no offline viewing and lack of rss was a deal breaker for me. If you're not acquainted with the many add-ons of Firefox, or just don't like that it takes a little while to get going, use Chrome. Fastest browser in the world, stable as hell, and high quality web apps to boot.
IE will only cause you headaches, world's worst browser ever.
To all those for whom IE runs faster than Chrome or Firefox, read this
I'm sure that IE10 probably loads up at startup, that's why people find it faster than Chrome or Firefox when they first open it. If you're talking about page loads, or tab switching, then I'm seriously at a loss as to how that's even possible, apart from the fact that people might be running outdated versions of Firefox or Chrome.
