if the 60fps > 30fps helps with controller lag, then yes please.

if it's to do with screen output, i.e. what is moving on screen. can the eye see past 25fps for 30fps or 60fps to make a difference?

While 30fps is playable on most games, there is just something about 60fps that gives me a tingle in my pants! I think 1080/60 needs to be the standard, the fluidness of 60fps is just where it's at!

Try not to think of individual frames but as a whole. Its about motion. Higher frame rates create smoother motion.

    You tell me

    20FPS

    30FPS
    https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/.../AG2/30fps.avi

    60FPS

ITs possible to notice an out of place frame, have you ever seen fight club?

The higher up you get the smaller the difference gets. I can tell the difference between sub-30, 30, 60 and sometimes if the game feels really smooth you know you're around the 90 mark. I can't really tell between 120 and 90 though unless there is a big drop for a few seconds (120 to say 80)

I don't know about you all, but 60fps is a part of graphics and not just response time. 60fps looks beautiful.

Definitely value frame rate over graphics. There's just something beautiful about playing a game at an utterly smooth and high fps

    Depends on the game!

Fast pased = 60< fps. Slow pased = 30< fps.

I don't really agree that it depends on the game. Sure some games a highframe rate isn't really needed for games like an RTS or something along those lines however i think for any game where you are controlling a character or a vehicle i think 60FPS is a must. Doesn't matter if you are playing a fast paced multiplayer twitch game like Quake or even a slower single player game such as Skyrim.

    Just my opinion of course

You guys need to keep in mind, it is 1080p at a likely locked 30fps vs 1080p at a likely variable 60fps (could drop to lower levels). I highly doubt these consoles have to power to have games run at 1080p 60fps locked and not have to lower the graphic quality. And of course this will only get worse with time as PC's become even more powerful.

If console games can do unlocked 60fps, then why haven't they ever done it?

I am a graphical person who likes images, But 60fps looks so yummy as well, so give me power and give me both! no compromises please!

The entire point of a console is compromise.

Indeed it is. I'm just interested in seeing what people where more interested with. I definitely value frame rate above graphics though.

it depends on the game. but 30 is perfectly fine (so long as 30 is maintained)

im not one of those that can tell the difference much.

Killzone ran at locked 30 and it fit the game very nicely. it wouldn't have benefited from running at 60 imo.

    i'll list my top 5:
    MGS4
    Uncharted 2
    Mirrors Edge
    Valkyria Chronicles
    Oblivion

^only one of those benefits from 60 fps. the others do fine with 30.

the 4 that don't benefit at 60 are considered by many to be truly beautiful games.

I can't agree with thinking a lower frame-rate suits different types of genres more. Not saying you are wrong and I am right, just I think every game benefits from being smooth.

I was trying really hard to come up with an analogy with the Ferrari F1 car of last year compared to this year but I just couldn't do it

I voted for fancy graphics. The games that I enjoy the most don't require 60fps...
    MGS4
    LBP2
    LEGO
    HEAVY RAIN
    KILLZONE (maybe this one)
    NI NO KUNI
    FINAL FANTASY
    GOD OF WAR
    GTA

I wan't sexy graphics for these please

Although I wish Sony would "force" developers to use 1080P in all ps4 games. That would be neat.

i'd rather take a hit in graphics than want 30fps. also 1080p needs to be a standard.

SOME animation is actually drawn and played (natively) to play at that frame rate. The standard for movies is 23.976-24fps
