I think the fact that people get so worked up over digital is the fear that it inevitably is gonna take over like it almost has on PC, movies, music and pretty much the consoles are next.

That's part of it, because it's becoming very true. Much like how Film is almost completely gone and digital has taken over. However, I can argue that if your ps3/ps4/digital device $#@!s up, and your warranty is out, what then? I guess that could apply to physical copies too, but there's too much risk for me using digital. First of all, file size. I really like keeping my HD clean and only keep sentimental files on it, like my trip to wherever, or my favourite media of all time etc. Digital takes up too much space, and cloud storage is great, but what happens when servers crash...or worse, get hacked?

Well my PS3 did die and I lost all my data but thankfully games are tied to your PSN account so it really all depends on PSN and the chances of PSN being shut down any time soon is extremely low. That's why in a few years time I'll be grabbing a brand new PS3 Super Slim and a Solid State drive which should last pretty much forever.

Most PS3 games have huge ass installs anyway which you have to sit through so it's not much difference, Bethesda's games pretty much install 99% of the data, so what difference does it make between buying the disc or a digital download?

Its all just options, different options for different kinds of people.

I go all physical coz I like to collect on a shelf, lend to friends and family, not have to worry if my console gets hacked or broken and can re sell stuff.

But its good there are options

I do see that side of it too, I just find it funny how some people go so far as to bash a digital OPTION or the people that choose that option. We're already seeing games shipping with DRM to block used games, online passes, require online, so next gen it seems buying a disc or digital will be pretty much the same, regardless of whichever version you buy, if the servers go down, you're F'd.

Well the game file itself, on top of the install? No thanks, disc copy please. Huge difference. Like 10-20 gb difference.

There is no install for the digital version, like inFamous, the game pretty just goes straight in and in some cases has practivcally no load times like you're playing on a PC.

Depends on the PC games you played, most of the PC titles I play are oldish (90s-2005) and running off my SSD the longest load time will be like 2 seconds. All PC games are installable hence that kinda speed, and for read speeds digital > disc pretty much every time.
