XBO controller still uses AA batteries

The controller still takes AA batteries, but the humplike compartment is gone. So are the screwholes.

This is better than an integrated non removable battery that renders the controller useless once it dies.

And I don't know why this deserves its own thread.

I think this is supposed to be a negative thing

I would of thought the HD rumble/Trigger feedback would of been much more worthwhile talking about!

Have owned around 7 PS3 controllers, none has ever died. Let's not get too defensive buddy boy.

But yeah, as long as you get a rechargeable battery set for the bloody things you should be ok. Just make sure you have two sets - one for use, and one for just charging when the current ones run out of juice.

Still, prefer to be able to just use the bloody controllers while charging though.

You can do that with the 360 and I haven't heard anything about that feature not being used on the one.

Yeah if you pay extra for it.

Come to think of it, ^that^ should be the motto for everything Xbox related.

Instead of buying rechargeable batteries and a charger you just buy a 360 play and charge kit. It's a 1 to 1 swap. No extra cost there.

Seriously, why would you complain about having more options?

Lol, have you opened a ps3 controller? Itīs easy to change the battery pack in it but I have yet to see a controller that have died because of the battery. I still use my original controllers on my launch unit and they last for over 10 hrs of gameplay. But I donīt see a problem with this news if MS ships them with rechargeable batterys and a charger.

#1 Are you really equating opening up a controller to swap out the battery as being as easy as the system for the 360?

#2: So you haven't noticed any degradation on batterylife/runtime of your ps3 controllers as long as you have owned them? According to this article below, you would have gotten ~19 hours when your controller was new, compared to ~10 hours now.

just like condoms, it only last as long as you use it for half hour or if you are quick 30 seconds

Prefer rechargeable. I can't even think of more than 2 devices in my hourse that now use AA baterries. A rather plug in my controller than scramble to find AA baterries once they die.

Though I really like that the fugly battery compartment is gone

I would be more concerned with Kinect being required for your Xbox to work and your Xbox becoming a brick if your Kinect ever breaks than I would be about this. lol
