70 YEAR OLD NEWB HERE - please help me with these PS3 QUESTIONS

I have read about PS4 - always on and all that junk - I do not want one

on the latest model of PS3 500 GB CECH-40xxC - please help me with the below questions.

Is the camera/motion bar (its xbox equilevant is KINNECT) is it built in ? Is it mandatory to be hooked up even when you play games that do not require it ?

Does the base unit have a built-in mic ?

To play any brnad new PS3 GAME YOU BUY, MUST YOU BE on the internet and/or have a PSN account to play the game ?

Can you never have to hook the PS3 to the internet ? (except for software updates)

are there wired controllers available ?

In otherwords can i play this system like an atari 2600, meaning hooked to my tv and not required to goonline to have accounts or activate games and etc

Neither PS3 or PS4 require the internet.
You can play/use either console without any connection.

Does not have built in camera, Mic does come with console but plugs into controller if you wish to use it.

Does not need online also.

Well if your going to play online your going to need internet connection lol. Like everyone else said you don't need an internet connection to play a game.

where did I say I wanted to play online ? I didn't. I was asking IF the PS3 would be able to do what my ATARI 2600 did. Pull it out of the box, plug into tv and electric, put disc in and play, with no need for mics and cameras and no need to go online to play any game ever - not need to activate legally purchased games online - no need to have an online account --- i realize if I want to update firmware, i have to burn a dvd or cd and update it

Can't use burn dvds or cds would need to be a memory stick aka usb drive, but yes you can play nearly every game without an internet connection only a handful don't work

Those games are mmos so that's why they are online only, but apart from those titles nothing else is needed to play ps3 games.

Well it's not 100% but it doesn't seem the PS4 NEEDS to ever connect to the internet, it comes with a Camera but that doesn't mean you HAVE to use it, but as of now we don't know, but as for PS3:

Listen Granps, with the ps3 you'll be able to watch Blu-Ray movies, play games (with or without online). If you have internet you can use the web browser and use the apps, especially going through PSN store although you'll need to make a PSN account for that. It's that simple.

And about the PS4. You'll need to have internet to use most of the latest LUXURIOUS features. It doesn't have a built in camera or microphone. That's if you buy the PS Eye ( a Webcam, which is built with microphone and camera). The system is going to come with a headset. I know you didn't ask but I'm just saying...
