I think they anticipated the drop in sales with the One announcement. But they are selling the Xbox 360 for the next 5 years, so it is 5 million a year or less going with an average.

Yeah, a lot of fools buying Xbox 360s and PS3 for these heft prices, but Microsoft and Sony need to make that money.

They will still sell. There are plenty of games to play on the 360. It's still the more favorite with Americans. However, it's the $99 (rumored?) that will sell way more and it's plausible to think that they would be able to sell 25m more eventually.

Why? The Xbox 360 sales are doing really well right now.

Right now doesn't mean $#@!. Both companies will cut prices as next-gen arrives.

The price is too high for a console being replaced in less than 6 months. Most people are wait for a price drop after the new consoles come out.

The 360 should be $100 and $150 for the 4gb and 250 GB.

Think about it. There are no big exclusives in the pipeline so who would pay for $300 for an end of life console with no blu ray?

Then why is the console selling well right now if $300 is too expensive and people already know about the new Xbox One?

Console sales are down and have been dropping steadily all year. People have been holding off or buying used to save money. Prices are just too high, especially for the 360.

I would provide links but it's difficult to search, copy and paste from my phone.

Because they don't. Not until they see an ad on TV telling them there's a new Xbox at Walmart.

Yeah, the price is too high and sales are definitely down due to anticipation of the new console, but the sales are still strong despite these things. This happens with every console including the PS2, and yet even the PS2 went on to sell +50 million more consoles despite it being a console with no big exclusives in the pipeline after 2005.

But still, $150 for the Xbox 360 and PS3 consoles is unreasonable. Consoles in the end of the life cycle are supposed to make money, not break even.

The Xbox continues to offer some of the best games out there, so it will continue to sell well. I agree, they should give it a price drop soon though.

That's pretty much what I said. Once the price drops sales will pick up.

At this point the 360 needs to be $150. Price is the only real reason to get one. Especially when Sony is still putting exclusives out for the PS3 and MS isn't.

You should say big budget exclusives before they flood you with a load of live titles

Destiny and Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor is all I need for the rest of the year.

That's true. Games like World of Tanks and State of Decay just can't compare to The Last of Us and Beyond.

Yet MS pumped out some great ones last year (2012) (and Sony didn't have $#@!), and now Sony is pumping out some great ones (2013). Both were their 7th year respectively. Can't wait to see all the great first party exclusives that Sony pumps out on the PS3 in 2014 (8th year) so we can see how they match up year for year to the 360's 8th year. Better have some "LAST OF US" titles in 2014

I guess so. The continued onslaught of Gears and Halo is a matter of preference but frankly I'm tired of them. I do enjoy Forza Horizon however.

None of the exclusives were new IP's but I could be rightfully accused of splitting hairs with that statement. I guess I'm looking for more than shooters and driving games.

It's the same IP's over and over again. They need something new.

So then that means technically PS3 has been in the lead for many years now.

Sony "better have some last of us quality titles" to match up with MS weak ass 2013 is very funny. Beating a "straight to dvd" version of gears of war will be very easy.

We're talking big budget titles. Not those "bloat your list" live titles you love using

So does Team Fortress 2, on the PC. It did squat on the 360. Really no comparison at all.
