Sony is "actively push[ing]" for PlayStation 4 developers to deliver games that render at 60FPS/1080p, according to a developer working on the console.
Discussing the differences between PS4 and Xbox One with Eurogamer, Stewart Gilray, who is working on a secret PS4 game at Just Add Water, said:
"We might see slightly smoother framerates on PS4. We're working with Sony right now, and they're trying to actively push 60 frames per second, 1080p.
"You might get situations where the graphics will be a little, but not much, lower quality on the Xbox One," he continued. "Or, you might get some fixed at 30 frames per second situations in 1080p. It depends on the scale of the game.
"If your game is going to push the heck out of the PS4, you might have to do some little tweaks [for the Xbox One version]. But if you design your game to work on Xbox One at 60, it's going to work on PS4 at 60."
The difference in performance will likely come down to the boost offered by PS4's 8GB GDDR5 RAM, which Gilray previously told VideoGamer.com had been kept secret from third-party developers prior to the console's reveal.
In comparison, Xbox One features 8GB of slower DDR3 memory, of which 3GB are reserved for system resources.
Both consoles are due to launch later this year.

Super smooth motion.
I hope if they manage 60 FPS they also enable a switch to go 30FPS so players that say they cannot notice the difference will finally be able to notice the difference.
Or that full screen local player stuff 30FPS per player at different intervals with goggles stuff.Last edited by keefy; 1 Day Ago at 21:38.

Still think devs will just pump out prettier graphics and maintain 30fps
Whilst i'd prefer 60, I'm OK so long as games dont go below 30 as has been the case with some titles this gen

I never feel the frames loss for it to concern me much.

I'd much rather have a nicer looking game at 30fps and 1080p than make serious compromises to hit double the framerate.

Prepare for meltdowns if these next gen console rumors are true. Phase 1: Denial. Phase 2: Mask a lie under "opinion" vs a fact. Phase 3: Bring up the PS3/360 era when it has nothing to do with the subject. Phase 4: Say that the power gap doesn't matter but constantly defend the weaker specs.

I still don't see the difference.
eg.
Can anyone guess which is 60 and which is 30? Both look exactly the same to me.

Not sure a single gif can be split into 30 and 60fps it can only be 30 OR 60FPS.
Gonna bring out these vids again

There is shouldn't be any difference.
I was getting at the gif is at one of those frame rates not both.
My expertise in gif making are limited at best but I cant see how its possible to have one gif have 2 different framrates.
Check my post above 2 vids one is 30FPS the other is 60FPS

It's good to push 60fps in the beginning of a generation because the graphics are still better than anything on last gen consoles. It's like how publishers use new next gen console graphics to entice people to try their new IPs. But instead of new IPs, it's 60fps.

But to be completely honest, Sony should practice what they preach. Shame on them for making a 30fps Killzone. lolLast edited by Foraeli; 1 Day Ago at 22:21.

I saw that thread recently, all pretty good examples and all were easy for me to tell the difference, BUT I'll take TLOU graphics @ 30fps over COD graphics @ 60fps
