Tim Samaras from Storm Chasers is killed by a tornado.

Famed tornado chaser from the Discovery Channel Storm Chasers series was killed by a tornado this weekend along with his long time crew member Carl Young, and his son, Paul Samaras. They were among the people caught on the highway in the El Reno tornado which also flipped a Weather Channel storm chaser truck.

Sadly ironic indeed. But I guess he was a passionate guy and died doing what he loved.

The 2nd ironic death in television, the first being Steve Irwin. Am I missing anyone else?

That sucks though. I would rather having an awesome dream, out in an empty field with a huge sunset or in space, going into a black hole.

He died doing what he loves...in that regard he was blessed. Sad news still.

Yes, this was a huge shock to the weather community. I was tracking that insane supercell that produced one of the most dangerous tornadoes one could imagine. Its a long story as to why it was one of the most dangerous tornadoes for chasers but if there was a single tornado to kill some, this was the one. Its known as the El Reno EF5 of May 30 2013 because there was also another EF5 in 2011 near El Reno OK. The tornado got to record size and suddenly shifted on them in a unforeseen way that almost never happens. These guys were some of the best, totally professional. I even had a national geographic doc on them that I watched just in the fall. And here is a fact most probably don't know, these were the first deaths of storm chasers in recorded history...yep first ones.

Final Fantasy IX is without question not only the best video game ever made, but the best entertainment created by mankind.
