    IGN video where they ask a dev for the game about QTE.

    Apparently, combat is NOT QTE driven. The QTE is literally a "bonus" mini game sort of thing after you win a sword fight. You don't have to do it, it is not pass/fail. Completely optional.

    That makes no sense. Unless they say that the demo had nothing to do with what the actual battle system is, that clearly showed that just about every sword move is driven by QTE.

    Visually, it's clearly not what they're saying it is.

    then you didn't watch the video.

    he said the video is giving people the wrong impression of the game. it is from the word of the guys who made the game, not an IGN guy. The QTE's are completely optional events that serve as a rewards system if you do choose to perform them. He said you can win a battle and ignore the "x" to kill button and be fine, or if you press "x" then you are put into the QTE style mini game that we saw in the demo.

    Thats a shame since that game looks awesome. Sounds like it falls flat in gameplay though.

    I didn't watch the video you posted, I did look at the gameplay video.

    If all of those QTEs were optional then that's stupid because they actually break the action to give you enough time to press a button you don't need to press lol.

    So yes, it would've actually made more sense if it were at the "end" of a fight...not "every" move. But that's what the video shows us.

    I thinks it looks great. It's no different than game like GOW. You wear your opponent down and then execute if you want to. This is just more realistic because you don't have to strike as much to win a battle. It can work. Even games like Tomb Raider use it pretty well.

    Realistic, meaning the use of weapons and not climbing 50ft tall titans to attack it's weak points.

    Ryse is probably my most anticipated game on the Xbox One. After watching the movie 300 countless times i've always wanted a game with that setting that captures the intensity of the movie.

    I agree, it looks like a current gen game. But they will have time to polish it so it will probably look better. The gameplay looks bad but I guess its because it was a kinect only game and now trying to play well with the controller. It needs alot of polishing.

    Do you have a confirmation? Because that might explain the scriptedness of the game and the QTE-based fighting system.

    As for QTE... the fighting is not QTE. The QTE comes AFTER the fighting, for a rewards system. The didn't really make that apparent, but like the video I posted before, the devs say it is not QTE combat, but merely a "finishing "maneuver you have the option to perform for more bonues.
