    Playstation plus price increase?

In Sony's presentation they mentioned $5 a month for PS plus which is between the current quarterly and yearly prices. Is that a hint at a price increase to 59.99 a year? Or am I late to the show here? Best buy has sub cards on sale for 39.99 right now, picked up one to add to my sub

No doubt Sony's taking a big hit on the hardware at $399 so the revenue will help them recoup some of that. Not to mention that Sony will have an incentive to improve their service. Plus you get free games and your apps aren't behind a paywall. No problem for me.

Well, I've always seen free online as a plus, but I'm also willing to pay the bills if it's actually beneficial for me. All this cloud saving+instant game collection on 3 devices and all that jazz is too good to complain for $5. Make my deal sweeter and include Music Unlimited with those $5 and you've got a lifetime subscriber.

For the sheer ammount of games you get, the difference is nothing.

Yeah it went up. Right now is the time to buy a PS Plus card and hang on to it. It will probably go up one launch hits. Maybe sooner.

I'm looking into getting two PS+ 1 year memberships when my current PS+ expires. It'll keep me good until 2015 and I'll save a few bucks in the end.

I hope Sony will have one more sale on PS+ subs before the PS4 launch. I would have gotten a year more last time, but I had 1,5 years left at the time.

I haven't seen this anywhere, but will the PS4 allow us to change our PSN names? I didn't know what I was doing when I set up my PS3 and ended up stuck with a default name I've wanted to change since forever. Even if they charge for it, I'm cool with that. I just want to be ABLE to change it and decide if I want to use my real name or not. Any info?

All you have to decide is what to do with the time give to you....

No. You can't change the PSN ID. You have to create a new account basically.

"I think all those developers who are saying, "We donít want to do a PS3 game," or "Itís really difficult to do it," should shut up and make their games. If you have time to complain about it, then you should be spending your time working on getting the most from the hardware."

I'm not sure, they told investors they were not going to take a loss on it and Pachter was predicting they could sell for as low as 350. I bet if MS had launched at $399.99 that Sony would have went for $349.99.

Just a fun fact that I read from an interview with Scott Rhode. No online passes with Sony games since there is a pay to play now. So I guess that is a silver lining. Don't know about 3rd party. I think it was in a Giant Bomb interview.

If I'm honest I'd rather have the online passes.

"Under 5 dollars a month" As it stands, the current price is both "under 5 dollars a month" and "over 4 dollars a month" so this isn't proof of a price increase. They never said "5 dollars a month" they said "UNDER five dollars a month"

If it really was 59.99, they'd REALLY be stretching that "under" thing.

I'm not worried about PSN+ being needed for online or if the price goes up a little bit, as I'm already a PSN+ member and the service basically pays for itself. $5 a month is $60/year or basically the price of one full game release or two bargain price full releases. DriveClub PSN+, assuming it isn't some massively gimped version where you have to buy all your cars, is pretty much going to cover the cost of a year of online gaming. I've downloaded at least 5 or 6 games in the last 6 months which pays for the whole year of PSN+.

Oddly enough now that Microsoft is essentially duplicating the best feature of PSN+ I'd have less of an issue with paying for a Gold account, free games gives XBL a value that means something to me, because I might go months without actually playing a game online.

Just put in up slightly make it £41.99.

It's a great service PS plus as it is now and will improve in the future. It's even better value now online play will be included on PS4 into PS plus. That money can now be invested in improving PSN.
