    A place for weary souls.....or pre-order victims

ok, there are alot of people who did not get a pre-order, and are complaing and lamenting over in the official pre-order thread....I am one of them....but this thread's purpose is to serve as a refuge for people who see that their hopes of getting a ps3 on launch are nearly hopeless.
It is (and i dont care if its been done before...i am desperate for information and ideas) where you can post all of your ideas on how- maybe its unconventionally -you (without a pre-order) are planning on fullfilling your dream. I MEAN, WE ARE AN ELITE GROUP OF PS3 GAMERS, AND WE DESERVE A CHANCE TO COMBINE OUR KNOWLEDGE TO GET ONE WHEN IT COMES OUT!
    thank you. lol.

if Toys R us is, or is going to be accepting pre-orders. I am going to try to get too a deserted one, and hopefull buy one there. I'm figuring most people won't go to TRU because its mostly family and young kid oriented, and not alot of parents are going to spend upwards of $500 on something for christmas....sooooo i can grab all of them.

Keeping a list of alternate camp-out/alternate options for people to check out as to getting a ps3 on launch. i dont know if it will be helpful, but to me it organizes thoughts a little better.

    Stores:
    K mart
    Big Lots
Best Buy- might give you chairs
    BJ's
    CompUSA
Costco- premium card memberships get to shop an hour earlier
    Target
Sams- also, may give exclusive shopping hours depending on membership
    Sears
Walmart- despite the huge popularity, and obvious attention it will bring towards the 17th, it is a 24 hour store, so you could get one at midnight, and not stay up till morning (from Razorblade416)

    Unconventional Methods:
    Ebay
    *stealing one

    *not suggested or condoned

The ToysRUs in my area are not doing pre-orders... as far as I know, they are just going to retail their supply.

My mom was at Gamestop at 10 pm right at opening time, but she felt that driving ALL the way back to the ebgames in Peachtree City was a better idea. So by the time she got there is was 1:00 and of course they were sold out by then. I'm so pissed right now, i'm shaking in anger. However the good thing is i got my name down at my local gamerush to be notified for when they take preorders, so i'm either going there or walmart.

Come and bid with confidence on Ebay! You will have your hands on the 60GB Premium PS3 the day after launch, if you want it.

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=230037698825

Best way for the non-preorderers to get one while the reasonable (from a certain point of view) Ebay prices are available.

It's not really a hopeless dream to get one at launch, just camp at a first come-first serve place.....days in advance That's what I'm gonna do.

Who do you think will get more consoles? A Wal-Mart supercenter or Best Buy?
Setup of a college gamer short on cash:
20GB PS3 (with 160GB HDD), Acer 22" Monitor, Logitech Z-2300 speakers with harmon/kardon rear speakers connected to a Creative X-fi 5.1 card, Logitech Driving Force GT Racing Wheel, and a ton of racing games with a few FPSes sprinkled in.

You got to get creative if you want a ps3 at launch but did not pre-order. Go to stores that will sell ps3s, but places most gamers wouldnt think of to go buy a ps3 at. Of course people will camp outside gamestops and wallmarts. But will people camp outside of CompUSA's and other random tech stores?

Also, considering ur 16, u should be willing to take risks... ie... skipping class w/e as long as its legal and u actually want the system.

crying bout it wont help, but i mean, knowing which stores would have them will ehlp, and tahts through personal research.

I purposley decided to wait until the second shipments.
I will have more time to save up more money for games and assessories (I'm currently at $800) and be less in debt

I also get time to read all the reviews and feedback on the system and games.
My bad expereince wite the XBOX 360 has taught me to listen to the feedback of consumers rather than retailers and thier affiliates. The 360 had/has some serious technical problems, I wish I had of known that when I was standing in the freezing cold in the middle of the night waiting to get one.

    So I'll wait an observe.

yes, but the 17 of november is a friday. that means people who couldn't get their pre-orders because of school schedules, may not be able to stay up all night thursday outside some store for a video game console that their parents already are wary of becaus it costs $500.
.....ok, lol, well at least that's my position. oh and to Illusions: ok, ok, i get it. i should get some balls and do it by myself, whatever.

Well, look how many people were able/willing to camp out on almost no notice just to get a pre-order. Plus, it won't really be kids missing school, it will be people 18+ with jobs or free time, plus parents willing to do it for their kids. The one Mom ahead of me at EB games today had no idea what she was getting but her kids told her to go, so she did.

    The 17th will be crazy.
For the PS3 to overtake the 360 by December 2007, it would have to outsell the 360 by 1.75M units a month worldwide. 7 million lead/4 months
    By 12/08-437,500/month By 12/09 - 250,000/month
    By 12/10 - 175,000/month As of 9-20-07

Blame the people who pre-ordered more than one or was buying it just to sell it for profit.

Lets be honest; though they aren't the only problem they are basically contributing to the problem massively without giving a damn

Yeah, but at a 24 hour store like Wal-Mart you would only have to say up until midnight, then you could sleep until you had to go to school. I really hope my parents will take me there and such. I guess they know it's important to me after obsessing about it since mid 2005 and saveing up $1,000 for it

Okay, don't go to Wal-Mart. I went to a Wal-Mart last year for 360 and they only got two premiums (i got one) and ten cores. Best Buys will probably have like 40-60 units but you will have to get in line like a day or more in advance to get one. I recommend camping in front of Sam's or Costco. There are stories of people waltzing into Costco an hour after opening and getting a 360.

Never say never…….I scoped things out with them and they did a pre-order for the PS2 long after everyone else did. I talked to the local store clerk several times about this and he hinted around that the decision was not final yet. However he did say that they would have a "good number" of them for launch. So while Best Buy, Walmart, CircuitCity, K-Mart draw all the crowds this could be the spot for launch day. I distinctly remember they had some PS2s on the shelf long after everyone else sold out.

Btw most of us here on the this forum thought no one would be doing any more pre-orders after Sony announced the launch unit number drop!
    PLAYING B3YOND since November 17th 2006 and F@H since 3/23/07.

I'm taking the 16th and 17th of November off, and going to best buy before it even opens ON THE 16th!!!

I know, overkill, right? I agree, but I'm just not interested in risking arriving late. I called my local Best Buy and they'll be cutting the line off at a certain point.

I'm putting up a sign above my head that says "PS3 line starts here," assuming I'm the first one in line. Being 24 hours early, I'd say I probably will be.

if your willing to wait for 24 hours try a walmart dont be a damn fool its going to be like 20 degrees outside. At walmart you can stay warm and they give you a chair work smarter not harder
