MotoGP: BT Sport secures TV rights from 2014 in five-year deal.
Im unhappy that I will no longer get to watch MGP next year in 2014 onwards due to this deal What was Dorna thinking? going to BT will be a loss to those viewers without a BT Box or broadband line.BT Sport has won the TV rights for MotoGP from 2014 in a five-year deal, after a decade of coverage on the BBC.
BBC coverage for the remainder of this season will be unaffected, with all races and some qualifying sessions available on BBC One and BBC Two.
UK viewers can also still stream all practice sessions and races this season live through the BBC Sport website.
"We believe that we have brought the sport to a new, wider audience," a BBC spokesperson said.
"We would like to thank our production teams for the contribution they have made in raising the profile of the sport in the UK."
Last summer, BT secured the rights to broadcast 38 Premier League matches per season from 2013-14 to 2015-16, along with English Premiership Rugby and the women's tennis tour.
In addition, BT's acquisition of ESPN's TV channels in the UK and Ireland in February will bring the rights to show live games from the FA Cup, Scottish Premier League, Europa League and German Bundesliga.
The BBC added: "We are very proud of our Moto GP coverage and submitted a competitive bid to retain the broadcasting rights beyond our current contract.
"We will continue to bring great content to our audiences for the rest of this season."

How has it taken so long for this thread??
Anyhow, this year has been the most exciting for a while, the only downside is that Rossi has shown he is past it
Still backing Pedrosa all the way!
yeah I agree its exciting to watch, but with Rossi back at Yamaha I think maybe the Simoncelli crash has affected him psychologically in the long term. we don't really know!! but I hope Rossi gets back to his best when he's sorted out the bike for his riding style an other issues. he doesn't really need to fight that much he has done it all but it's good to see that he's still giving it a really good go at the young guy on the grid.
What my dad has been saying is that in 09 Lorenzo rode Rossi's bike, now Rossi is riding Jorge's. Could be true as that bike just acts like it has Jorge's brain in it, I can't put into words what he does to that bike and only he could beat the Honda this year!

MotoGP grid set to increase to 28 bikes in 2014
The MotoGP grid could increase to 28 bikes for 2014, with Italian manufacturer Aprilia possibly increasing their involvement.
There are 24 regular riders in MotoGP but Carmelo Ezpeleta, CEO of rights holders Dorna, expects an increase.
He told BBC Sport: "We will announce that we will open again for more entries next year and then we will admit four entries more, up to 28."
Suzuki confirmed this week that they will return to MotoGP in 2015.
Ezpeleta also said that there are plans to abolish the "Claiming Rule" which allows manufacturers to buy CRT engines for £17,000 (20,000 euros.)
The Claiming Rules Team concept was introduced for the 2012 season to tackle dwindling grid entries.
It allowed teams to build their own cost-effective bikes by putting production-based engines into prototype chassis.
The "Claiming Rule," allowing other manufacturers to buy those engines for a set fee, was brought in to stop factories abusing the concessions made for CRTs, including extra fuel and a bigger engine allowance.
Jeremy McWilliams Jeremy McWilliams finished 19th overall the last time Aprilia ran a full team in 2004
Speaking ahead of meetings with the MotoGP teams during the Catalunya GP to discuss rule changes for 2014, Ezpeleta said "CRT as a concept, that means the Claiming Rules Team, this will be deleted.
"There will no longer [be] the possibility to buy the engine for €20,000. We can continue calling it [CRT] as a name but the concept of CRT will disappear."
Moto2 rider Scott Redding's Marc VDS team are considering a move up to MotoGP with the 20-year-old next year if the British rider does not enter an existing factory or satellite team.
And asked whether Italian manufacturer Aprilia, whose ART package won the CRT category with Aspar Team's Aleix Espargaro last year, could step up to more of a factory effort in 2014, Ezpeleta said: "We don't know yet but it's a possibility yes."
Aprilia last ran a full team in MotoGP in the 2004 season, with Northern Irish rider Jeremy McWilliams and Englishman Shane Byrne in the team.
07-13-2013 #14MotoGP world champion Jorge Lorenzo is out of Sunday's German Grand Prix after suffering a heavy crash just two weeks after breaking his collarbone.
The Spaniard flipped over the front of his factory Yamaha during second free practice, landing on his left shoulder.
Lorenzo broke his left collarbone in practice for the Dutch GP in Assen on 29 June and had to have eight screws and a titanium plate inserted.
He has now bent the plate and will return to Barcelona for more surgery.
MotoGP championship leader Dani Pedrosa could miss Sunday's German Grand Prix after crashing heavily during practice.
Pedrosa, 27, sat out qualifying with a small fracture to his collarbone, with fellow Spaniard Marc Marquez securing pole position at Sachsenring.
Marquez, 20, finished ahead of Cal Crutchlow, with Valentino Rossi third.
A MotoGP statement said: "It has been confirmed Pedrosa suffered a small collarbone fracture and will try to race if he feels fit enough."
Pedrosa was airlifted to Chemnitz hospital after he came off his RCV on the first corner, 15 minutes into practice.
