DriveClub PS Plus Edition has less content than retail version

    http://www.videogamer.com/ps4/drivec...tion_plus.html

This doesn't make sense since you can still download the retail version, correct? Seems like a disingenuous answer to me.

The PlayStation Plus version of DriveClub will not include as much content as the full retail game, Evolution Studios has confirmed to VideoGamer.com.

Discussing the differences between the PS Plus Edition of DriveClub, which PlayStation Plus members will be able to download for free at the launch of PS4, and the retail version, senior designer Ben Gouldstone said:

"The only difference between the PS Plus edition and the boxed retail is that there's a slightly scaled down version of content...
"We haven't released specific details about what we're going to refine for the PS Plus Edition yet, but in terms of the gambit of features, you're going to be able to issue challenges, you're doing to be able to do asynchronous online races, you're going to have all of the single player content in terms of events. The specifics we haven't gone into yet but you're going to have the full gaming experience."

Gouldstone claims that content was cut from the PS Plus Edition in order to get the downloadable version "immediately into someone's hands", rather than for commercial reasons. Cut content is expected - although not confirmed - to include certain cars and tracks.
"This game is huge," he continues, "and to have the full scale download as the initial [PS plus] release, it was a conscious decision to make it as slick as possible."
I don't need no stinkin' signature!

You can upgrade to the full edition. I don't mind, you get the game for free.

I assumed this would be the case when it was referred to with a differentiating title (+ addition) and it's free. Don't mind, will probably be a fair amount of content and personally I'm not all that interested in it.

Hope it's not a permanent thing to come, PS+ titles with stripped content.

‘Free’ PS Plus edition of DriveClub is “the full game”

“The way we’re looking at it is we want to deliver the greatest community based game we can. So, being tied in with having the PS Plus edition allows us to deliver that content bang on day one with DriveClub,” explains Gouldstone. “It’s not going to be trimmed down in terms of features, the only thing that’s going to be reigned in is the amount of content delivered in the PS Plus edition. But in terms of the feature set it’s the full game. It’s Drive Club, you get it with PS Plus”.

I've been wondering what they meant by this. I guess when you get a launch title day one as apart of plus this isn't really all that shocking. Usually the free games are at least a couple months old.

Probably the game is going to be lacking 50% of the cars and tracks. I'll be getting Knack and Killzone at launch and will play this until I fel the need to upgrade to the full verson.

Interesting to see if they supply us with a DLC add-on that we can get to "upgrade" the game. Wonder if it will be free, or charge us for it.

This works for me. I'll try it out and then upgrade if I'm really into it.

Basically. They want to get the game out and small enough to download I guess. So giving us the ability to get the other content later that is in the "full" version...

Well, they already confirmed that you can upgrade your game so it's the full version, but it isn't free. I doubt they did this because it would be too much to download.

In reality its still a sweet deal. I plan to buy DriveClub at launch, but if I were someone who went the route of another game, at least I could still play a decent version of DriveClub out of the gate. I'm actually thinking about buying another game and using this downloaded version first. I just need to know if I did that, would my content be the same if I bought the disc version down the line.

Most of you are missing the point of this post. They are saying that features were cut so that it could be downloaded faster, but isn't the retail version available for download as well? Aren't all PS4 games available day one for DD? I have no problem if the PSN+ version was cut because it's free, just tell us that. Don't sugar coat it.

Where have they said that. I've just seen evo guys saying the game is going to be free with PS+ with a good Chunk of cut content. I'm guessing you get the game with cut content but can pay $20-30 to unlock the full version.

Am I missing something because all I heard about this game was the social aspect of the driving, is there a single player to this game?

Sorry, content was cut, not features.

But they are claiming it's to download faster. What does that mean for the DD retail version or DD versions of other retail games?

Yes. I saw Adam Sessler interviewing a couple of guys from Evo and he asked them that very question and they said yes there is.

It means Xbox1 owners will be deleting a lot or buying and taking yet another device around to hold their installed games
