Got a normal HDD in mine but I'm not taking a chance. Off the PlayStation grid I go! You were having such a good month Sony. Oh well, guess I'll just wait this $#@! out until it's fixed. Good thing I'm not a big fan of multiplayer games. I would be pissed!

guys dont panic . they will release another FW and you need to download it from playsation website , put it into flash memory and plug it to ps3 in safe mode , there you can upgrade your firmware to newer version and it will fix the problem , your ps3 is not bricked since the safe mode can do everthing ( sorry for my bad english )

Hopefully this is true. This news has me thinking about the last time I backed up my saved games.

For now though, I've unplugged the system from the wall, added it's MAC address to the routers block list and turned off internet on the console. Don't want to deal with these issues so I'd rather not risk it.

I wonder how many people are going to be affected since Sony had the PS Plus promotion and so I'm sure people have their updates set to automatic and may not be thinking about that (and end up with an updated, bricked system).

seems everyone with the problem should give it a try before sending the console to the trash or sellling parts, since the 4.41 update is now the official one you can get it from the Sony site and put it back

Yeah I'm not taking any chances either, even with hard drives that I've got here. And damn, I was hoping to play TLoU multiplayer tonight. Looks like BF3 on PC instead.

Good job I wasn't at my PS3 when this update hit then, I usually just update ASAP.

Played and finished the last of us. My PS3 could be bricked right now and I probably won't know for awhile.
if I am in the PS3 or 360 section I will NOT post about the competitor just to please people, if you want to know what I think about the competitor link me to a thread in the appropriate section

If all this is true. It certainly won't help the PS4 launch.
