Still wondering what this vent is on the PS4

Ok, so we all know what the PS4 now looks like...from every side...from every angle...even the Dualshock 4 and PS4 Eye...so my big question is, where the hell is this vent? I didn't see it anywhere on the console or even remotely where it would be on the console?! The console is all sharp corners and this here is a rounded vent hole, WTF?!

On the rear of the console. There's a small one on the top section on the left and the whole bottom tier is a vent other than where the power cord connects from what I saw.

Think the op means where is the vent he posted situated on the console. It's a weird one indeed, maybe it's not the console at all, maybe it's part of the controller.

I can only see it on mock up of the PS4 someone made from the brief glimpses inthe video Sony released. It doesnt look like its on the official console at all.
ITs going to be on either of the faces, the edges are too thing to house such a vent it looks like.

It is just such a weird shape that doesn't go with the rest of the console! Maybe it is something internal...I am also curious on where the HDD bay is, I didn't see one on the console they displayed either, I almost wonder if the glossy part snaps off to give you access to the HDD, etc.

Seems like they changed the design from the video.

There is a slot on the bottom.

I'm still wondering where the power and eject buttons are haha. Probably some touch activation again.

Guys, they have the high definition photos on the Sony site, so you can clearly see the features of the case:

    http://us.playstation.com/ps4/?SR=na...verview:razz:s

The power and eject are part of the thin blue line. They are the two slender rectangular buttons on the front, looks like with tiny led bezels.

The hatch panel on the bottom doesn't look like the hard drive access. It is too long and too thin to get access to a hard drive. I think the hard drive access panel might be a section of the back.

As for the original question, the high res photos don't show that pattern anywhere. We will have to wait for the teardown to see where that might be.

    Good call man.

You can just make out the design when you zoom in.

It is possible the slot on the bottom could provide access to more than just the HDD. And I don't see how it is too thin for a 2.5 inch HDD when they tend to range in thickness from 5/7/9.5 mm.

Hard drives are 2.5 inch wide the height of the PS4 is barely 2 inches.

Good one, mystery solved. It kind of makes those pre-reveal concept mockups look really ridiculous since so many people thought that was a major feature and indicated roundness for the case. That was totally off, the case is all about angular and edgy.

I've been wondering about that little access panel and what it does as it was obvious to me that it couldn't be for direct access to the HDD. The only thing seemingly reasonable that I've been able to come up with is that it's an access planel to screws that enable the cover(s) to come off.

Take a look at it, the only place that looks like there could even be some hidden screws/mounting mechanism is the back (possibly 4 plug in tabs.) But I don't thing this would be sufficent. However it it slipped over the top of the central portion, and then slid into the the final part -while the main guts are the central column. Then most of it can be friction fit, then secured screwed together through the central column. But you'd need to be able to get to the HDD so you need to be able to take it apart easily. A couple screws hidden by a small door would do the trick nicely while leaving a nice sleek look to the overall product.

Think two Parallelepided (3D parallelogram box) panels encasing a Square box (central core)

Probably the lighting reflecting off the black plastic.
