    PS4 is Amazon UK's 4th best-selling gaming product of 2013, Xbox One 70th

PS4 pre-orders massively out-stripping Xbox One, Amazon chart suggests.

PlayStation 4 is Amazon UK's fourth best-selling gaming product of 2013, according to the site's official best-sellers list, with Xbox One limping in at no. 70.

The console has also re-overtaken Xbox One in Amazon's hourly best-sellers list
, after Xbox One saw a brief surge in sales following this week's DRM changes.

Official pre-order numbers for either console have yet to be revealed, but it's believed by many that Microsoft altered its DRM policies after the product struggled to attract reservations.

Both consoles go on sale this Christmas, with an update on Amazon US pinning a November 27 release date on Xbox One

Firstly why do we need to connect to the internet to patch out the drm $#@!? MS alone should fix it before launch even if it spells a delay. Secondly when they announced the no drm thing they also basically said in that statement they could turn it back on later on.

Gamers have lost alot of trust in Microsoft. Not even Halo 6 can fix this.
The damage is done and only Microsoft is to blame.

Well it simple. MS is arrogant as can be and to delay would mean total embarrassment and loss of some money a lot of money. To delay their machine would be like suicide. PS3 got released after the 360 and was met with devs catering to the 360 and giving the ps3 the back seat on multi console releases. The exclusives were great but some of the multi plat games were developed for the 360 it looked like. MS does not want that to happen to them. They want to be first.

Yeah, but at this point, the release dates are so close, it won't matter than PS4 is a month behind. A year, yeah, that's a significant lead. A month? Won't phase Sony, especially worldwide where they already lead.

I suspect it's a simple case of cost and time. For millions of units to be ready at launch, they're likely already in production. Presumably, to go back and change the launch OS footprint will impact ability to mass produce. Easiest and cheapest way to fix it is to patch the software at end-user level. The production process remains uninterrupted as a result.

Wouldn't delays hurt sales? I thinks it's obvious why MS is doing this.

Judging by all nextgen games that have been shown it looks like Devs are leading(console wise) on PS4
I can see Xbox 180 getting the short end of the stick, PS3 struggled with different architecture and ram pools
180 has different architecture, different slower ram, less useable ram, less powerful GPU the list goes on
I'm sure games will look brilliant, but I reckon DF is gonna have a field day even though both versions run great, but will be different.

If these amazon preorders are any sign of whats to come in the US/UK, then MS will be in trouble.

Destiny and Middle Earth: Shadows of Mordor is all I need for the rest of the year.

Yep I agree. I notice alot of multiplat games have been demoed and presented on the PS4 the same way that alot of multiplat games were demoed and presented on the 360 this gen.

Those are MS only real successful markets. If MS loses those to Sony they will definitely be in deep doo doo.

Not so much in the UK from my understanding. But MS does completely dominate in the US at times especially with software. i.e. Halo, Gears, and some third party.

Last I read they had a slight lead. But nothing like the US. Although the PS3 has surpassed the 360 in worldwide sales. If Sony can get that US mindshare or even a decent chunk of it they will have next gen in the bag.

Thats very impressive since Canada is similar to the US in their support for Xbox.

The whole agenda was to get everyone who buys their console to have an online connection.
Their is plenty of time to incorporate this into the OS but obviously MS still has reasons for everyone to be online.

This is actually quite shocking. The UK was the XBox 360's second biggest market. MS went a long way to trash their XBox brand over there this much.

From what I can tell(as I live in the UK)
People got a 360 as it was the New thing but over the years gotta PS3
This maybe the result of it leaving only the ones that stayed 360 only pre-ordering the 180 and those that went PS3 day one and later pre-ordering PS4.
You can't base things off current userbase as old as the 360's because things change and they may no have one anymore or the otherway around
Plus the recent hype could pull people into getting a PS4 instead too.

I'd agree with the PS3/360 assesment in the UK - I got a PS3 at launch and knew basically no one else who had one, lots of 360 owners though. Nowadays that's flipped on its head a bit though, given the two consoles at the same price most people started going PS3. Assuming the charts on Amazon reflect reality, it looks like the PS4 is a no-brainer when its £80 less!

I see that the PS4 is holding strong in 4th place and Xbox One is still languishing down the pack (now 57th)

Oh dear MS. It's not looking good for you. The UK is by far the largest gaming market in Europe. In fact I think I once read it was bigger than the next three gaming markets in Europe combined! It's a hugely important market to win the lion's share in. Right now Sony are storming it!
