To elaborate, if the ps4 uses SATA III then an SSD will give you a performance boost. Installing one in a ps3 yields some small improvements but SATA III. I'm trying to find out if it is sata 3 but I can't find a reliable source

In theory the battery life should be much better than DualShock 3, as the capacity in DS4 is 1000 mAh, vs 570 in DS3.

Here's some screens/ videos of the UI

Given that all of AMD's controllers are SATA 3 already and we are using AMD parts, I find no reason to think otherwise. Also, any SATA HDD will work in a later SATA standard.
The sweetest thing is if your totally hooking up your rig, would be to put in an SSD but i don't know for sure their OS can handle it properly (Probably) . The danger with SSD HDD's though is sometimes they get a firmware update to enhance and fix bugs, and, that WIPES THE DRIVE!!!
So be VERY WARY of using an SSD on your game system without an external to back it up between updates. Also, if you found it needed an update and so cared to do it, you'd have to yank the drive in the first place, all a bit of a hassle. Still, the speed rewards are stunning.

Well, for the PS3 replacing the default HD for SSD only increased load times (same as with PC), so i'm quite sure that will be the only benefit.

I don't know man. I remember reading an article that cut the load times in half on gt5 when they used an ssd. It was a couple years ago not long after gt5 came out so I'll have to see if I can still find the article.

edit: unless you actually meant decreased load times not increased. Then never mind.

    Question about USB memory sticks

This would go with the older console as well.
Does the 64 gb Sandisk Cruzer Glide, model SDCZ60-064G-AW46 work with the PS4 ok?

    unfortunately not im afraid.

the new controller does things the DS3 cannot.

however, the new DS4's are a lot better than what Sony currently offer with the DS3

its unknown at this point as people are still wondering how Sony keep the console cool

suffice to say it's likely the same as the PS3: remove one screw, pull out harddrive casing, unscrew HDD from casing and then insert in reverse order.

It has been officially confirmed that you can replace the Harddrive in the PS4 as for how we can im guessing basically the same method as PS3

Will the PS4 have private cross-game group chat like on the Vita?
If Yes, Will it possibly be able to communicate with the Vita (*fingers crossed*)

It will have cross-game chat. The dedicated audio processor chip in the PS4 will be for cross-game chat, handling 200 concurrent mp3 streams in-game, etc. I'll assume it'll allow cross-game chat between PS4 and Vita, seeing how closely connected the 2 are, and them mentioning that the Vita was designed with PS4 communication in mind.

Correct. I agree as well with the cross game chat with vita. They've said that the vita and ps4 were meant for each other so I think itd be ridiculous for that not to be available.

Good question. It's certainly feasible with Gaikai, but we'll have to see. If I had to guess I'd say no. Added to list

I was wondering if anyone knew how the games I've paid and downloaded through PSN (like Final Fantasy 9 and Maximo) would fair out and that whole thing.

I just went to reserve a PS4 and I'm about to start playing my PS3 games and finishing them to trade in but what about the downloaded games?

Will they travel to my PS4 through my account?

Will they even work on the PS4?

    All that jazz.

Thanks in advance....you guys are great.

I asked this in another thread but didn't get much of an answer, while playing games on the ps4 should the fan be loud, I thought I read that the system should be quiet before the release?
