Yea, this is stuff I've been getting into for awhile now. This is a good attack on empiricist philosophy imo, and illustrates that we all take so very much (one way or another, and on different levels) by way of 'belief'.

Theism is no less likely or true than agnosticism or atheism on its intellectual merits, in particular when the foundation for scientific empiricism begins to erode.

Isn't the whole point of agnosticism that we don't know what is likely or not?

Technically? Yes. But in practice it's often quite different.. What I mean by that is, most "atheists" you see running around today parroting Dawkins or whoever strap the label to themselves to seem chic and intellectual. In reality when you press them and boil it all down to what they -truly- buy into, it's just strong agnosticism. Not really 'atheism'.

These same 'atheists' will pitch a fit saying the definition of atheism encompasses agnosticism and the two should be counted together. Indeed, there was a local group here in Omaha that were bragging about how something like 10%+ of the US identified as 'atheist' or something and when I read the report\survey what actually happened was that something like 9% said agnostic and 2% said atheist.

They were irate that I would differentiate the two.

    So yea.

A more accurate approach would be to use gnostic/agnostic as a modifier of the terms atheist, deist or theist.

Yeah, there's fundamental difference between not believing in God and saying there is no God. Some atheists just try to lump them together in order to increase the numbers of their view.
