One good thing I have to admit about digital is you have to never worry about it getting scratch when lending to a friend

I prefer a physical copy. There is nothing better, as it just is simply the best way for true ownership. I'm not a big fan of digital downloads. If that is where the future is going, then I hope it's like 30 years down the road. I'm sure it has it's positives but It has it's negatives too. I think the whole infrastrucure is going to have to change if things go digital download only. At this point I don't want it too.

Of course, Valve might go under some day, but they have most of the DD market on PC right now despite competition. If Steam is there, everything else will still there, the PC is a constant platform. It's not viable for Sony or MS to keep servers running for old hardware and keep the games up, unless it's B/C.

Sony and MS don't ALWAYS pass on the savings, but they do frequently have DIGITAL sales, many times upwards of 80% off at times.

Yeah they do sometimes. And I recently bought Doom BFG on PSN for a now permanent price of 20 bucks. Used to be 40 bucks. I doubt the retail version is much cheaper in this case. Glad I have the 500GB PS3.

I would rather have the actual disc in hand, and that way I'm able to sale it for some amount of $$ rather than being stuck with it......

Yes, it's there. Just not everywhere.

Personally, I will go fully DD-only for both games and movies from here on out. It's just so much more convenient and looks much better with entertainment software like XBMC to back it up. And mind you, my internet is far from perfect but I don't mind waiting for a download to finish, especially with Sony's new Play-Go feature to launch in the near future.

Game cases take away too much space, they get dusty as $#@! over the years and do nothing but sit there.

This is where the future lies:

my problem with a digital library is the data could get corrupted, or you might have to delete some to make space for others. Then fast forward 10 years...will the servers get shutdown? What happens then? You bought a game, your HDD died, and now the servers aren't available to re-download it?

Eventually there should be servers in place that they don't take offline...hopefully. And with Xbox going for some 300k server farm, and Sony working with Gaikai....it looks like thats what they are striving for. But you simply can't account for future events.

What if 10 years after going all digital, either Xbox or Sony drop from the market. You think they are going to support their servers then? Look at Sega. You think if back in the dreamcast days it was a digital only world of gaming back then that you'd still be able to get those games today? I doubt it.

I've downloaded some games but they were part of the $49.99 PS+ annual bundle. Otherwise I wouldn't of have downloaded anything if I had to pay full price for them. I still prefer to keep physical media.

I bet the retail version came down in price far quicker than PSN version though!

I agree. Neither Sony nor MS have given me any good reason to embrace DD on consoles.

Indeed. However, some of us are willing to pay for convenience.

Oh my god, people saying that they don't buy their games digitally because the servers might get shutdown... Believe me when I say that, by the time these servers shut down you're not going to even think about replaying those old games.

Not in all cases, I went to play Motorstorm Pacific Rift at the end of last year and they're shutdown, same with some FIFA titles now as well as others. Plus it also makes games that have online trophies impossible to complete.

There are a lot of people that play old classics or favourites. I still wouldn't want to lose ownership of those titles.

    This.

Desperately clinging on to physical media will cause nothing but slow down progress.
