Kojima looking for a studio remake MGS using Fox Engine

It seems that there are plans to remake Metal Gear Solid using the Fox Engine. This was announced by Kojima during an E3 2013 interview in response to a fan question.

Kojima said he is in the process of looking for a studio that can adapt the first game to the Fox Engine, noting that some of the mechanics would need updating.

Kojima talked earlier about putting an outside studio on remaking Metal Gear Solid, but this is the first time he mentions the Fox Engine. In any case, plans for it still seem to be there.

I think another studio should handle it, all the orginal content is already there. Kojma should be focusing on new stuff.

Barely anyone got to play Twin Snakes because it was on the GameCube, pissed me off immensely that it didn't come to the PS2. So I fully support this remake. I'm sure they can use a lot of the assets from MGS1 and the revisit in MGS4.

    My thoughts exactly.

No doubt they'll reuse TTS VA as well as the altered music (how could they change the encounter music? Come on) that's like changing FF7 battle music in a remake.

They butchered Mei Ling's voice and Sniper Wolf's final speech. Honestly REmake was perfect, it fixed all the problems and kept what worked, TTS just changed stuff for the sake of it. That to me makes it a bad remake, whenever I replay the game even now I choose the PS1 version over any other. Plus the TTS never got the Japanese VA.

Didn't miss anything. The audio for the remake was atrocious and a complete slap in the face to the original. Some things should be left alone. Twin Snakes was garbage.

I don't really need a water cooler/remote control as of right now.

I would have forgiven the "WE MATRIX NOW" cutscenes if they just left the voice acting and soundtrack untouched.

But the biggest issue with Twin Snakes is that the gameplay advanced to MGS2 style, however the surrounding aspects, such as AI, were not adapted to complement the gameplay style.

This is both great and bad news, I much as I'd love to play MGS1 running on the new engine if it's handled by a different studio other than Kojima productions themselves, it'll probably turn out to be a waste of our time.

I say bring it on!! I would definately buy it. The Metal Gear solid Legacy collection will be released next month. The only difference is I believe it comes with a graphic novel or two and the NES version of Metal gear and Metal gear 2 solid snake. to which unless I am wrong Kojima himself said that Snakes revenge wasnt part of the universe and didn't want to claim it as being real metal gear I think I read that in an article years ago in a game magazine. Anyway,..

I already own all the MGS games. And then I got the MGS HD collection. Now they are releasing a Legacy collection. I would much rather buy Metal Gear solid with Fox engine Graphics or I would even settle for current graphics But please stop milking the older games Give me more, give me something else. I want to buy a remake of Metal Gear solid with better graphics, but it's getting a little old to see re-releases pop up when I could be getting something of substance. It was funny because the gamestop guy tried so hard to sell me on the Legacy collection. He said, " I'm sure you already own the games, because I can see you have taste, but just to let you know the Metal Gear solid Legacy collection is up for preorder and you get like 10 games with it." lol. All they really did was make new box art. I want..no I NEED a remake of MGS not all these re-releases. Stop giving me appetizers, I'm ready for the main course.

This whole thing appears to be just a misinterpretation or more so just spun to gain hits.

PCs are very much like Air Conditioners.
They both become utterly useless once you start to open up Windows....

I would much rather see the original 2 Metal Gear games remade. Those are at least going to be new experiences to a much much wider audience. Many people havent gotten much of a chance to play them. Id be a lot more interested in playing those.

I was going to say the exact same thing. Unless you owned a MSX2 computer back in the day or used an emulator, you've never played the original Metal Gear. The NEC version was very different.

That would be a remake I would be excited to play.

I read this earlier on Kotaku..

Today, one studio offered their services: a British developer called Just Add Water. Here's what they have to say:

    Dear Mr Kojima,

We read with great excitement on VG247 that you were looking for a studio to work with to develop a Metal Gear Solid remake using the Fox Engine, that your team has been hard at work creating.
We at Just Add Water feel ideally positioned to do the remake justice for several reasons:

    1. We have experience working with legendary IP (Oddworld Inhabitants) and treating the subject matter with the respect it deserves.
    2. Many members of our team are huge Metal Gear fans, with very good knowledge of the source material.
    3. We really, really want to do it.

For evidence of our abilities, please check out not only the HD treatment of Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath, released on PlayStation3, VITA and PC, but the current re-creation of Abe’s Oddysee, titled Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty.

    We eagerly await your response.

    Love and cuddles,
    The JAW Team.
