It will be bundled with the consoles, here's a couple of pics of the single mono headset and the headset plugged in the DS4.

Is it 3.5mm (like a normal headphone)? Or is it thinner like the 360 one?

3.5 mm jack mono headset with a volume rocker, I actually like that they went for mono since I rather have one ear occupied on the chatting, much like using a wireless bluetooth headset.

I'll just use this for voice-chat and use my own headset for in-game audio.

    3.5?

    Using Sennheissers/whatever I want confirmed.

Or, since I assume we should still be able to pair the Sony Wireless (the earpiece one, the original 7.1, and the Pulse ones) headsets via Bluetooth. I don't see why not?

    #IndieStation4 and proud of it.

Unfortunately the Sony surround sound headphones aren't Bluetooth. Have to plug in the USB dongle.

The audio on the PS4 is going to be worlds better than the PS3. Can't be said enough but this Secondary Custom Chip Background Processor SCCBP is going to be the next megaton and is a multimedia companion processor with hardware accelerated sound, image and video processing.

They should be able to totally split audio channels now, so the controller headset can be just for the audio of your team and the TV/sound system still providing the game audio and special effects, then being able to switch chats.

This SCCBP is handling the background downloading, 4K video decompression, and it is a multimedia powerhouse. This thing has got to be a CellEVO, just sounds so much like it.

I'll be using BT during the day and surround sound headphones at night. Having a pair of wired headphones on hand is good in case of low/dead battery tho.

Wouldn't we then be able to just use the dongle? Or is that something they can block/not enable?

So it has a stereo 3.5mm jack. Does this mean we can get full game sound and chatter through our headphones?

Hopefully we can just plug in the dongle and it works as intended, but nothing has been confirmed nor denied yet.

I just wish Sony put more then just 2 USB ports on the PS4.

Unknown at this point, but I'm going to assume that the 3.5mm jack only the controller will be used strictly for voice com and not actual in game audio. Hope I'm wrong tho.

Well the DS4 does also have an integrated speaker right below the touchpad, so my guess is that it is capable of such thing.

I doubt it. But it means we can probably use any headset, phone hands-free etc. we want.

I just hope it has decent Noise cancellation.. The amount of people who have painfully terrible mics is just absurd! ranging from mics that have a constant loud buzz or static noise to ones that pic up TV noise more so that the persons voice. Lets hope every game comes with quick and easy options to mute people, and shows a mic symbol when people speak.. annoying having to mute 5 people trying to find that 1 that is deafening you because the game doesn't show who is mic'd.

When I use MP I can't stand listening to other people. It's static, they can be wicked rude to other players when the kill them or other way around. I just mute everyone anyway. I'll try it once or twice to see what it's like but it will not change people's online attitudes. So it doesn't matter if it's included or not.

The mic is built into the headset volume control I would imagine, just like the one that came with my smartphone.
