Personally I don't like that style of earbud. It presses up against parts of the cartilage on my ear and starts to hurt after about 20mins of usage. So I won't be using this.

I will either grab my Boom Mic that I use with my cordless phones for conference calls, or one of my spare in-ear ear buds from one of my Smartphones. I never use them for anything other than listening to music on my Cellphone anyways so the spares would be perfect.

That said, the proprietary jack they have next to the 3.5mm jack looks very promising to be another audio jack for a 5.1 or 7.1 Headset w/ mic for both in game audio and chat. That said, they have yet to official announce what the intent of the jack is, but that's what makes the most sense to me. If they put one out for $100 or less, I'm definitely buying it.

Pretty sure that is a mini-usb for the controller charge. Saw a pic or video where there was a cord plugged into that. The usb connector on the DS3 is up front. On the DS4, that is the light bar and the curved edge of the touch pad, so there isn't room for the usb charge connector.

USB Port is just below the light bar.
PCs are very much like Air Conditioners.
They both become utterly useless once you start to open up Windows....

Sorry if this has been asked already. I have the Official Playstation 7.1 headset, have they confirmed they are compatible with the PS4 yet?

Nice find! And I remember a few people saying the charging port was at the back.

Not liking where that charging port is...but I did not know that the DS4 had a textured back now. Nice.

Texture for grip, the port has to be below the light to work with Eye 2.

No i meant, I wish the port was at the bottom of the controller, where the mic port is.

and yes, the grip texture is definitely nice. Sometimes I eat while I game and the controller gets slippery lol gross i know.

You can charge in the back like usual or in dock through the prorietarty port (no phun intended), if we are to believe Nyko. What is there not to like?

Why on the bottom of the controller? It has to be on top because the console is infront.

^I believe it's angled forward - while being a little lower than on DS3..

hmm good point. still i wish there was a way to make them a little more sturdy because with normal use it's fine, but when a kid is messing with it, it will get loose after a couple of years.

Well, with the charge dock you'll probably never have to recharge your controller while gaming. But yeah, a very peculiar place indeed.

what does a charging dock have to do with never having to charge your controller during gameplay?

Because normally you charge your controller when you stop playing, so you don't have to charge it during gameplay...

plus if u put it on the dock every time it'll mess the battery up right? like, not letting it go dead and then recharging it fully?

That applies to nickel based batteries. Most electronics today have lithium based batteries.

Letting lithium batteries go dead and then recharging them fully, degrades the battery instead.
