Index (Atlus) about to go bankrupt

    Justin Epperson ‏@sprsk 7m
Index holdings just announced they are going bankrupt: http://j.mp/14yXH7U Maybe there's a Dragon's Crown curse?

Index will undergo civil rehabilitation proceedings. Yup, they're going bankrupt and they're going to be restructured by creditors it looks like. RIP.
    Important post

This is the official press release sent out announcing their civil restructuring. There's a lot of legal speak in it, but further down one of the important sections is their outlook for the situation. It states that the game division is clearly the most desirable and functional part of Index's business, and that's one area they plan on expanding on specifically. They will seek out and select a sponsor as soon as possible to conduct a business transfer before the situation further damages the value of this core business.

Sounds like they're looking for a partner or a straight buy-out.
If Sony is smart they'll jump on this.

    You're darn right!

What would be funny is if Square Enix jumped on it. They'd have the hitman developers and Atlus.

Last but not least, I can't believe they're going bankrupt with all those quality games they make.

Sony. This is directed straight at you. Yes it is. You could make just about every JRPG fan scream and die in joy. Yeah, this is a perfect opportunity. If Sony doesn't buy them, I hope someone else does, which I have no doubt will happen. They've made good games and it would be a tragedy to see them go.

It'll probably be Nintendo who ends up getting them, Sony aren't for RPGs like they once were.

Well I already tweeted the press release to Mr. Yoshida, and the hopes of them acquiring Atlus.

Hopefully you guys at least try the same.

Just putting it out there. If Microsoft get involved, it could certainly help their relations in the asian market...

Either way, would love to see Atlus survive. They've made several fantastic games.

They've tried to aggressively tackle that market this gen and failed (At least in, Japan). Not sure if, Sony will be interested in Atlus. They have supported a line up of unique games so it would be a shame if they are lost in the industry. Like, AaronSOLDIER said: Nintendo will most likely buy them.

Considering how much love Atlus has given the 3DS in the US. Yeah.

Man I really want SMT4 and Soul Hackers to come to Europe.

I really hope someone buys them out and they somehow survive and keep putting out amazing games

Darn right, but at the same time, nooooo Atlus. I loved you T_T Hold onto your Atlus games, boys and girls. They might get pricey.
