12 months to produce a game graphic wise for the PS3 compared to the others?! The PS3 really did take sweat and tears to develop for!

This is why games shouldn't cost more than they need to. Development should be cheaper due to savings in time and coding. I just hope that dirty studios don't take advantage of this and push more junk out into the market.

Looks like the PS4 really is developer friendly. That's awesome.

I wonder how long does it take to develop for the Xbox One?

Let's just hope this doesn't encourage a lot of shovel ware like the Wii had. Overall, good news though.

A bit of a misnomer, saying it takes the same time to be able throw graphics on the screen in no way equates to development time for a games, games are far more complex and huge amount more assets than they did back then.
Yes its certainly makes life easier, but it doesn't mean game development will take the same time.
Time to trinagle on the XBox360 was 1-2 months, and that didnt make games come out any faster.

DX hasn't changed. 1-2 months as usual.

Edit: Actually after listening to Cerney's definition , I would say 2-4 months.

Exactly, Triangle time is a bad measurement of development as a whole. There will still be the huge team of artists behind the scenes to bump up development in all the usual ways.

It's handy for developers to have a quick upstart time on the platform but it just means they are quick out the gate, how they perform across the entire race is the real issue.

It just means Capcom will come out quicker with multiple day 1 on-disc DLCs, and release Ultimate and Super versions of games 2 months after the original, rather than 9 months.

Although I agree with the general idea of increased scope and complexity, aren't game assets already created WAY beyond the capabilities of the ps360 and later scaled down? So I don't really think anything will change for artists. The scaling down will be reduced and tech like the Square Enix's Visual works/luminous which allows to just dump raw high detail assets and converts to to real time, will speed it up even more.

I expect same dev time if not shorter than this gen

I can agree dev time will take the same time. But I think the fact that life would be easier means maybe budgets can either come down or stay the same. Which would help a lot of studios and developers.

Yeah pretty much, I wasn't saying it was going to be longer than this gen, just its wasn't going to be "ps1 era" dev times.
