    PS3 Support after next gen

so I'm preordering watch dogs and battlefield 4 for ps4 yesterday in gamestop, and at the end of the transaction the clerk hands me a list of games coming out for the ps4 and ps3. I was amazed! There are 60 games that will be released into 2014. Im glad that Sony is sticking by their word and keeping up support for the ps3. I won't be playing mine much when I get my ps4 but it's going to make a lot of people happy who aren't switching immediately to next gen.

Yes indeed. There are at least 12 games I'm going to play before moving on, and that includes HD collections of Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy X.

There is tons of games still coming so we may never know.Sony said keep our PS3s and small companies from Japan etc may stick to PS3 or portables for a while. Regardless i've got a lot of games to play on my PS3 yet. We see what next gen brings us its a long way off. The PS2 only stopped production not that long ago.

Um I still have my PlayStation 2 would still have my PlayStation if it wasn't for the fact my ex girl took it....I am betting they are thinking people will like being able to still play their ps3 after spending so much hard earned cash on it.

PS3 support will drop dramatically after 2014. The PS2 had strong support the first year the PS3 was released.

Once the PS4 releases, I would be fine if the PS3 lost all support lol.

Of course they will dramatically stop support after the first year or so. By then more games made for the ps4 will be available. That still doesn't mean people will just forget about their other Play Stations. Hell I still constantly play mercenaries on my ps2 as well as the suffering.

I have so many games in my backlog that I've bought and also from PlayStation plus in my download list so I'll have plenty of games to play for quite some time on my PS3. I am waiting to get my PS4 when it's bundled with inFamous second son.

Yeah the support will definitely drop of after what they have in the tank releases. I wonder how long they will support the system itself with firmware updates.

Even if PS3 support was to stop this year I'd still have enough games to keep me going for another 2 years at least, and that's before taking going back for Trophies into consideration. I could easily not get a PS4 for 2-3 years and still have plenty to keep me busy. I'm strongly expecting not to have a PS4 before 2015.

Saying that, even when I do finally get a PS4, I'd probably still got back to my PS3 form time to time, particularly if there are lulls in game releases or to go back to earn Trophies from any games I didn't complete when I made the jump to next gen.

Even though the ps4 launches this year, the ps3 has a lot of life left. I might even hold off on the ps4 and just keep on playing with my ps3 going thru my backlog. But who am I kidding we all have the little kid in us that just cant wait to play with the next shiny new toy.

Games will pop up here and there for the PS3, just as they did the PS2. There are still 70 million PS3 consoles in circulation. I assume the PS3 will get some support for the next 5 years.

The Wii U will give the PS3 and Xbox 360 a longer life span than normal. It would be easy to port those Wii U games over, so I will say the PS3 will be supported for quite a few years.
