Couldn't get chart to copy in so here is the link. We sure are getti g a bargain this gen. Using mostly off the shelf parts has got to be the driving force here. At any rate, interesting read.

of course off the shelf parts is the driving force. that's microsofts big argument is that they "touched every part of the box and tweaked it for maximum performance blah blah blah". I think Sony did what they had to do to make sure they didnt make the same mistake with the ps4 launch as they did with the ps3

Open PC link, hold CRTL key and hit the + key to zoom in. It helps but they still made the graphic way too small.

Embedded but very small. Couldn't get it to zoom.

Looks like the price is equivalent to the PS2. I'm very glad they decided to debut at $399. I can't believe the highway robbery they used to sell those console for back in the 70s.

I've owned almost all of these. God I feel old.

Yeah I'm just glad that there are developers out there that are still trying to do something new. There are a ton of developers that think that the FPS is the only way to be able to make money in gaming. They do have a point considering what is the trends now a days but I would still like to see more of the developers take a chance.

Back to the topic though. Part of this is that the competition is much harder now with mobile, PC, and console gaming trying to take part in the same market. Remember when Sony tried to sell you a PS3 for $599. Complete reversal now for them because they have so much more competition they can't dictate the prices anymore.

I agree however I think it's the introduction of the mobile gaming boom that's contributing the most eh?

Yeah COD has killed a lot of creativity because many devs want to cash in like that. Especially in fps.

Others try to replicate whatever is currently popular, which is counterproductive, but you can't blame CoD for that.
