How Do You Feel About the Power of the Next Gen Consoles?

Just curious about what everyone else thinks about the next gen consoles power-wise.

They have more RAM than I expected but at the end of the day the games are what matter. Honestly if the PS3 had had 1GB of RAM and the ingame everything worked smoother and some games were 1080p native I'd have no problem sticking with it.

I'm just happy to see new consoles.

New consoles = new games with new franchises.

I hope this gen isn't as long as the last. Power doesn't matter too much to me. The WiiU looks awesome

As a PC gamer I have to sate that I feel fairly satisfied overall. It seems to me that we're finally moving past the puberty stage of 3D graphics, where jagged edges and pop-in and low resolutions will no longer need to plague us, and the hardware resources necessary to deliver more gameplay concepts is now here. It's something I've enjoyed with my PC over the last two years, and it was difficult for me to go back to the consoles. I'm both happy and excited to see the whole gaming front is stepping up now in its technical feats and visual fidelity.

I think it might go on longer this time around. But we will see. I guess the length of the generation won't matter as much as how well the new franchises are if they keep taking more risks to bring new ones in. But in 5 years where will the technology be to be able to say that this generation will be that much further behind the curve of the pc market.

From a purely power perspective the PS4 is ok. It's not mind blowing but it's about as powerful as you can currently get at $400 in a box that size. I would have liked either; 1. a more powerful CPU (Piledriver cores) or 2. a beefier GPU, think closer to an underclocked 7950 than an underclocked 7870 (~2.5TF, 1.84TF). That would have been a real performance sweet spot in my opinion but there were obviously constraints, not least die space since it is an APU after all.

Well, it's not OMG! But it'll definitely be enough power to do some impressive stuff.

If ND can make games like TLOU on current gen, I have no worries about the power of next gen consoles given what we know.

Give next gen two-three years after launch to see some really impressive games.

Yeah, the exclusive titles will be interesting to see on the PS4, especially a couple of years after release. And ND will probably show the way as they've done so far with their games on the PS3.

Yes it matters, but the gaming experience is far more important to me

Neither are groundbreaking or have me watering at the mouth but i'm sure both will be fine. I'm not 'happy' with the specs but I am satisfied.
