    The Xbox Live Pay Wall

It's been a while since I played Xbox, and they got a lot of new apps like YouTube and Internet Explorer. However, it turns out that these are all Gold exclusive. It's really annoying to have a console advertise all of its capabilities only to find out that Gold is require to get this full and complete experience. Without Gold, your Xbox is just a simple gaming console with little multimedia functionality, and it feels like this might be a problem for the Xbox One if they go this route again.

What do you mean it's only a games console?

Yep putting the apps and even the browser behind a paywall is ridiculous.

I have never NOT had Gold without my Xbox so these services being behind a pay wall was never an issue.

been paying for Gold for on-line gaming all these years and MS just keep adding apps i can use with it. so it don't amount to a whole hill of beans to me.

but thanks for the heads up, never knew people bought 360's for the youtube and browser apps. would have thought it would be easier to use a mobile or PC if you just want apps.

Wow! Didn't know the browser was behind the wall too. I've never understood how they get away with charging you to use free apps everywhere else.

I get the feeling as I let my Gold expire after realizing I wouldnt be buying Xbox One at launch. However, I never used things like Youtube and the browser. I just used XBL to log in and play games with friends, now I cant even do that. Thus my Xbox 360 just sits there, collecting dust, until Xbox One Launched. Then I may buy some 360 games I never got to play.
