a dedicated audio chip will only make the game soundtracks that much better. in addition, the features such as cross game chat will be enhanced as well with the dedicated audio chip, no crackling on the 4 no sir

Yeah, and in a new interview HERE, he talks about the audio ray-casting, but using it for simpler stuff.

"Digital Foundry: Referring to your presentation you were talking about audio ray-casting... As I understand the idea, you're simulating what happens to soundwaves when they hit a particular material...

Mark Cerny: Actually the audio ray-casting I was talking about it much simpler. We'll cast rays to see if you can shoot something. You really need to know because it affects the reticule. It'll be a different colour if you can shoot an enemy or not shoot an enemy. For audio, you need to check whether you can hear a source or not. Many games cast a couple of hundred rays. It's actually quite time-consuming to do those calculations and it turns out to be a pretty natural fit for the GPU. You can take your couple of hundred rays, have them processed in bundles of 64 on the GPU and then the game designers get to make up new and more creative ways to use that ray-casting."

On the other topic of the zlib decompression on-the-fly for making Blu-Ray games read more info faster, I wonder if they'll have PSN Store content zlib compressed also. So, it takes less time to download and start playing. Also, with it decompressing on-the-fly, it would be cool if you could have games and other content stored on your HDD in compressed format, to make better use of the 500GB HDD.

Considering the move from Cell to a more traditional CPU architecture this is a good move as it can at least relive some of the strain from these more math intense parallel computations.
