No URL's only, quote/info mandatory when starting threads Rule?

Is there a chance you could make this a rule? on which nobody can just post a link to some article without quoting or posting the information contained on the link they're posting. If the article is too long, it's not like you're going spend time making an abstract for us but post a paragraph at least.

And of course this would apply to starting threads only, not replies.

    e.g.
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
THREAD TITLE: Mark Cerny: PS4 GPU Features Significant Customisation, Explains Compute Process

    QUOTE/INFO:
The lead architect of the PS4, Mark Cerny, has revealed some important details regarding GPU of the PlayStation 4 and how it is extensively customized and will be future proof.

“You’ll see the benefits in terms of the graphics and the quality of the world simulation and the like. On top of that we did significant customisation of the GPU to make sure that there was that extra target for people to go after in 2016/2017. Put that all together, I think the future’s looking very bright for PlayStation 4,” he said to EuroGamer.

Cerny then explains the compute process for the GPU and how each process does not affect each other. For example compute processes like collision detection, physics or ray-casting for audio won’t affect the graphics.

“If you look at how the GPU and its various sub-components are utilised throughout the frame, there are many portions throughout the frame – for example during the rendering of opaque shadowmaps – that the bulk of the GPU is unused. And so if you’re doing compute for collision detection, physics or ray-casting for audio during those times you’re not really affecting the graphics. You’re utilising portions of the GPU that at that instant are otherwise under-utilised. And if you look through the frame you can see that depending on what phase it is, what portion is really available to use for compute,” he explained.

A lot of developers also feel the same thing with Avalanche CTO famously stating that the PS4 will outpower PCs for years to come and more recently Witcher 3 developer telling us that the PS4 is a high end PC.

It will be interesting to see how soon PS4 games will take full advantage of the system. The PS3 got its first benchmark game in MGS4, which was almost 18 months after launch. PS4 launch games like Killzone Shadow Fall and DriveClub are already looking solid and we can only imagine what Naughty Dog will do with their game on the PS4, if they are working on one.

if posting from a phone or PS3 browser a member cannot copy all text (and pictures) from the other sites to here on the forums (as its too much to hold in memory).

I don't get the big deal about posting an article without a quote. so wtf it should be mandatory for someone to include "yay" with the article they post? that's $#@!. posting a quote STARTS the discussion in the thread and if you'll look at history RADgamer always discusses his threads after the discussion takes off. stop complaining over little things and enjoy the articles damn

How hard is it to click a link? We don't need silly "rules" like this here.

If they post a quote then great, if not its not going to hurt to just click the link. Are you you afraid of bandwidth exhaustion or something? No offense just curious why its so difficult

Not a bandwidth issue, is just that if I wanted to go through to websites for news I would use google, it's a forum so I expect the information to be posted 'on the forum' not just a link that will lead me to it. But it's understandable that no one wants this, guess I'm a bit used to some other more forum rules which IMO work better with this rule enforced, but like I said before nevermind, mod please feel free to lock this.

I don't get what is so wrong with just posting the link. I do it sometimes but I mostly qoute. I don't have a problem with clicking the link. But whatever just my two cents.

people that just post a link are breaking 2 rules
    1. No Spam – Spam found within the contents of a members post or signature is forbidden. Spam includes self-promotion, blatantly off-topic nonsense, advertising for another website and can also include multiple similar topics posted in quick succession to maximize a member’s attention on the spam subject. Depending on the severity of the offense, a member will either receive a private message from a staff member, receive an official warning or infraction and may receive a ban from the forums altogether
    14. No Advertising Other Sites - This will be dealt with strictly. Posting links to a website with the aim of increasing its traffic is an infractable offense. Linking to personal websites that will make monetary gains from the clicks are also banned.

well if it's against the rules then I guess that's it. my apologies to DaLa, wasnt aware of that being technically classified as spamming or advertising.

i understand what OP is getting at... i hate coming to THIS SITE for info and talk... only to have a single link to SOME OTHER SITE... I can google, i have multiple gaming newsy type links and feeds... i can go to any of those for the info... but i come here first because this is my home family in a sense...

so its nice to not be linked around all the time... although...how about someone just go to the link copy everything and paste it as a reply (ive done this plenty for people who cant ctrl+c / ctrl+v)

That rule 14 is a complete joke at being enforced. there are plenty of people who make topics that lead to their webpage/youtube/etc and they get keep.

Far as rule 1 if that where so true then we could NEVER post articles on other websites as that falls under spam. Would be a pretty boring forum if we could only post articles printed on PSU.

lol Unbelievable. So I should be banned now because my PS3 browser makes me unable to quote articles? I should not be allowed to post news because youre too anal and lazy to do an extra mouse click? You really need to go out more often and get some fresh air. Wow.

yea I think that's a bit much. banning for that is stupid, especially the stuff you post. I see the rules he posted, but honestly I don't see classifying your posts spamming or advertising. maybe because I'm new but I just don't see it but what do I know
