Ionizing Radiation is the bad stuff and it causes atoms particles to be disrupted. Radioactive decay, nuclear reactions, from the Sun (ever get a sunburn?).

Electromagnetic Radiation however is harmless. Radio Waves, Cell phones, Visible light, infrared light.

You must also not fly commercially either of course. Since you're that high in the altitude you actually intake 10x the normal amount of radiation during the flight than if you were on the ground. And forget about going to the beach or being outside in the sun! You will take about 3x the radiation then if you were to stay indoors wearing your tin foil hat. Worrying about your blu-tooth, cell phone, and wifi really is beyond obsessive and pointless.
They should probably avoid concrete, smoking and bananas as well. Oh and those orange glazed plates, since they often use uranium for orange coloring in stoneware. Radiation, and I mean ionizing radiation, is everywhere. You'd probably need to build a ball out of lead and float it to the middle of the ocean to have any shot at avoiding radiation. There's some evidence that small doses of ionizing radiation are good for you, generally speaking living somewhere with high background radiation means living somewhere with less incidences of cancer for example.

Also don't live in higher altitudes altogether if you are that concerned. But as others have pointed out there is no known risks and no known method that has ever been observed for devices of these calibre to cause any concern. Yes even standing right next to a TV transmission tower has no known risks to date.

Bluetooth is a radio frequency (RF) which operates on a 2.4GHz band. It is a type of electromagnetic radiation and is mostly harmless, unlike fumes from radioactive substances. I see cell phone addicts having a BT headset on their head almost all day long. PS3 uses bluetooth version 2.1 EDR and you cannot switch off the bluetooth when the console is in operation. I dont think that will change with the ps4.
p.s.- how many here know that bluetooth was the name of a person and that the tech was named after him?

    I don't think that's accurate.

I'd be more concerned about being cooped up in a basement and playing games all day, breathing in radioactive radon-gas. Radon emits alpha radiation therefore you wouldn't want to breath it in.

The reason you can't turn blutooth off is because the controller uses it to communicate with games and the ps3.

As questionable as they are, I do believe big brother would have stepped in and banned the use of blue-tooth if it was that much of a hazard

You give big brother too much credit. They are doing everything they can to block us from even knowing if we are eating GMO foods, that many tests confirm are a huge cancer causer. Not that blue-tooth is that much of a hazard, but I wouldn't leave it to big bro to decide for me if it were safe enough for use.

    this!!!

if it weren't for people that started to realize this, we wouldn't even have "all natural" "no color" no preservatives" "no hormones" etc. foods. It's sad that they have to put that down as a feature...Oh, yea, this doesn't have cancer! buy it now!

Not trying to sound like a jerk but why are you so concerned about radiation? If it's illness related, there's no real danger for you in there. Unless you have an OCD, then I understand why would you be so concerned about it, maybe you're to careful when it comes to your and your family's health so do not take my post as offensive, I'm just curious.

Probably easiest to just direct you to something like http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ionizing_radiation for a general background in ionizing radiation. But this is more fun, it's a list of a variety of commonly occurring radioactive sources: http://www.physics.isu.edu/radinf/natural.htm.

Belive me, all I expect from them is a smug statement discounting any relevance, which wouod only lead to more of a public awareness uproar. All leading to nothing for the most part, but when was the last time that happened lol

Standing near one over a peroid of time, say a few months to a few years will make your hair fall out much in the same way x-rays will, notice around TV towers in fields nothing grows and the stuff that does looks sick... EMR will kill over time in very high doses.

I'm pretty sure standing right in front of a transmission dish will would melt your face off electromagnet radiation the power of a few hundred microwave ovens will kill you, they incinerate birds and possums everyday so just imagine.

    TO THE OP
Remember you're not on the earth for long, the world is already damaged from everyone who was here previously and living in the present it's not going to get any better in a health sense, we will consume more resources each and everyday and the world one day won't be able to cope on a global scale so enjoy the years you have left even if you get exposed to your blutooth radiation if you enjoy playing your PS games than good for you! you're not hurting anyone directly so don't worry about it it won't be the same as standing in front of a cell dish.

If it makes you feel any better the plastic your playstation was made from was probably a T-Rex a million years ago isn't it strange that a dinosaur can be turned into a solid useful entertainment object weird, and the tallow that's in washing powder that we wash our clothes in, that's much weirder to me than EMR

    Hello everyone,

I think this is a very valid health concern that we should all be looking into, you can see more on this YouTube video where formal Royal navy microwave weapons expert Barrei Trower. wireless over exposure poses a real threat to human beings as it has been used in the past to assassinate people silently and has the potential to damages peoples DNA.
the video on explaining this you can watch here:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z99_SzoXZdY

I also like to speak from my own experience in saying that whenever I hold a wireless devise in my hand for long periods of time I tend to get pain in the nerves of my hands. I have have a wirless detector devise called the Acoustimeter the allows me to measure wirless devises around me and the power of radiation coming from them.

using this devise I was able to conclude that while playing the PS3 the wireless was virtually turned off when it was connected via wire, and then it jumped back up again as soon as I removed the wire. unfortunatly this does not seem to be the case with the PS4 controller as radiation remains high in whether wire is connected or not, and if I choose to "turn off" Bluetooth of the controller from the options, the whole controller stops working, even if I keep the wire connected. I wish Sony would address this issue as I personally would prefer not to use any wireless devise unless absolutely necessary. especially when it comes to something such as spending hours every day with the wireless devise touching my body so I can play.

I would encourage you all to have an open mind and to be cautious when it comes to your health, as industries will often "push" for things to be seen as "safe", when in fact the evidence of safety is might be inconclusive to say the least. let us remember that today we are somewhat of ginnie pigs when it comes to this global wireless experiment which long term effects have yet to become clear. obviously much of it is out of our control, but we can take precautionary actions to help reduce exposure as much as practically possible.

I personally try to use the internet via wired PC as much as possible and I keep wirless, 3G, and 4G settings off in my phone when I don't need them on, you can also do these things and if you do use wireless router its best to keep it far away from you and turn it off when not in use (you can simply unplug it- or turn off its wireless capacity and keep it as wired router only)

before you go calling me a quack or a tree huger remember that many doctors in the 20's used to say the cigarettes were "good for your health", also the toxic chimerical spray DDT was often sprayed on people and even children without any regard to health (until later on when they discovered how deadly it can be). remember just because more people do something does not mean its the right thing to do.. and there are so many examples of this throughout history.. so use your mind and decide for yourself

Laaawl! I remember we had a celeb (actually the president of the w.h.o.) who rabled about being allergic to radiowaves and such.

Though I whole heartedly believe some people are more sensitive to electronic noise, there's not enough energy to pose a health risk.

With all the other things in life that can kill me today, who has the time to worry about this? I'll go with TAZ's explanation and feel comfortable knowing that the warm sun beaming down on me as I write this is killing me quicker than my ps4.

OMG, if it walks like a quack and talks like a quack it must be a quacker. I have not been able to find any indication that 'Barrie Trower' has a PhD or MD. As far as I can tell he's not a doctor, he's not a physicist.

Please find any documentation indicating he got a degree from anyplace.

Please read some on my early posts on this thread if you want some actual facts instead of rallying around a talking head whom you have no basis that anything he even stated was factual, other than the fact that there's a Youtube video with him quacking like a conspiracy theory duck.

The fact is we're not dealing with 'The Knick' in 1890's when Xray's were first being used and scientist not knowing what long term exposure results in.

Thanks to works by the like of Madame Curie we know about radiation that is from chemical elements and not just electromagnetic. And beyond.

Thanks to use of Radar during and post WWII we found a great deal regarding the levels of radiation that humans can handle.

But go well beyond this and there have been literally hundreds of thousands of studies with how much energy and at what frequency in the case of electromagnetic energy such as would be for anything used in communications, exposure humans cells humans, birds, fish, insects, plant life, ... can take in both short term and long term exposure and what the effects are on Brain Tissue, Skin Tissue, Retina, Urethra, .... you name it and it's been studied including the Fetus. These are studies by people who actually are qualified, with actual measurements, papers published, etc. Not someone that are self-proclaimed doctors that spout rhetoric without putting forth any factual data regarding energy levels required, but because since the word Microwave Energy was bad when the military used (Focused microwave energy at high doses) then Microwave Energy from WiFi (non-focused and extremely low doses) must cause you damage. You get much more damage to your skin from walking outside w/ SPF 90 on from UVA and UVB radiation, but who gives a rats ass about that.

So who should you put your trust in, a real scientists or a quack job?

Real scientist tried for decades to convince people that Smoking was the leading cause of lung cancer, it got hard fought against. They had real scientist with real studies, not quack jobs, well there were quack jobs on big tobacco side saying it was BS. You don't have a big fight here, you don't have a bunch of scientist with competing theories, you've got a quack job and all the scientist saying BS.

I thought it seemed bit suspect when he was basically saying "I worked on these secret things for the government." Isn't that a breach of the official secrets act which all military personnel sign are bound to even after they leave?
