    Black Mage Corner

    In days long past, there existed an occult and arcane art known as black magic—a potent magic of pure destructive force born forth by a sorceress of unparalleled power. Those who learned to wield this instrument of ruin came to be called black mages, out of both fear and respect for their gift. Yet great power served to corrupt the judgment of mortal man, and so he unknowingly set out upon the path of ruin.


    Adventurers who take the black will become agents of devastation, capable of annihilating those who oppose them through little more than the force of their will.


    The Black Mage Soul Crystal can be obtained by completing the quest "Hearing Voices" that becomes available when the player reaches Thaumaturge level 30 and Arcanist level 15; it further enhances the Thaumaturge offensive magic abilities, but only allow the use of Archer cross class skills.



    Black Mages still use the Umbral Ice / Astral Fire mechanic. The five skills unlocked are mainly for utility. Convert gives you a deeper mana pool, allowing for longer burst sequences with Astral Fire. Apocatastasis and Manawall are nice defensive skills to have (Manawall being extremely useful in both PvE and PvP). Freeze is a great AoE CC. Ultimately, only Flare “changes” your playstyle a bit. It basically functions as a second Transpose, giving you three stacks of Astral Fire immediately.

    Additional Effect: Grants Umbral Ice or removes Astral Fire

    Increases a Disciple of War or Magic party member’s resistance to fire, ice, and lightning by 30%.
    Duration: 12s
    Cannot be reused on an individual for 60 seconds from when the effect wears off. Cannot be cast on self.
    Manawall 45 0 120 0 0 0y 0y
    Creates a barrier that nullifies two physical attacks.
    Duration: 60s
    Flare 50 4 2.5 ALL 0 25y 5y
    Deals fire damage with a potency of 260 to a target and enemies near it.
    Additional Effect: Grants Astral Fire III or removes Umbral Ice Duration: 10s

    What can does Archer use that can be beneficial? I would roll CNJ skills imo. might not have the best MND, but your gear for the most part comes with INT and MND. Plus, hopefully it'll get ironed out but I can see people using THMs (I know this is BLM corner) as a low level healer if there aren't any CNJs available.

    I know for me, maybe it was bad luck but as a lvl 15 THM I was spamming heals in a party of 2 GLADS and a PUG. I didn't care, I liked it but I just have my fingers crossed it doesn't stay like this.

    I think once you are a Black Mage, the skills you can use from Conjuror are very limited.

    Regarding Archery, this would be beneficial:
    Raging Strikes Increases damage dealt by 20% for 20s.
