    I'm really excited about where all this motion capture technology is going... especially for facial expressions. Brings more life into the games.

    crikies, that's some very impressive stuff. looks like Crytek are going to deliver big time with this ONE.

    that's as long as they've fixed the sub 20fps and serious screen tear of course

    Well... I certainly hope so. Their past games haven't really been all that great to me, gameplay wise. The graphics have always been superb, naturally, but I hope they're going to invest more time into the gameplay with this one. It would be a waste for them to spend all this time on the technology side and neglect the gameplay side. If they can do both, I'll be impressed.

    It's certainly impressive on a technical level. I don't think anyone doubts Crytek's ability in that area. But I need some real gameplay.

    Yeah... the push-button action/adventure style wasn't doing anything for me... but since it looks like they're stepping away from that model, there may still be hope.

    xbo user base is really the right selection for them. It is even become clear in this thread. I also hope they give up from qte rush too.

    Looks like its very story driven, akin to something Quantic Dreams would do at the moment with all those QTE's however.

    The way they have described the combat is it's bonus finishing moves, not regular QTEs that you have to pass to advance in the game.
    If you don't hit the right buttons, you wont get the bonus, but it wont stop you from defeating enemies.

    They are not stepping away from anything. As they have stated, they just showed a tiny portion of the game at the show that was more cinematic. They are still making the game more core for us, and that was their intent all along. I like that they are giving both options to appeal to more people. Though I don't think I will touch their nightmare mode.

    It has been stated though that Ryse's QTE's are NOT mandatory, not needed to fight. They are bonus, ending moves that give you extras to advance further. A reward if you will for doing them. Hell the dev even said you dont' have to enter into the QTE's. It is a "press X" to finish kind of scenario.

    you cant compare ryse to gow...in any case ryse was developed to be a kinect only game so it shouldnt surprise anyone if the controls are so simplistic as they are now...by release im pretty sure they'll iron everything out

    If the QTE's are not mandatory then thats cool. I thought they were hence my earlier comment.

    it just sort makes me nuts when a guy who scripted the QTE's for this game says, point blank on an interview that they are NOT required... and our forums, specifically the hater crowd, STILL harp on it being a QTE game.

    Boggling.

    The QTE's are likely not even close to being prevalent. My guess is, combat is much like Assassins Creed.
