If Square remade Chrono Trigger in 3D for PS4, would you buy it?

What if Square Enix decided to remake Chrono Trigger for the PS4? The game would be in 3D, not SNES and PS1 2D, and would have new and extra features such as new endings, new bosses and monsters, new tweaks to the battle system, and etc.

So if Square Enix decided to make a HD 3D Chrono Trigger for the PS4, would you buy it? Would you pay full money for a remake or would you wait for the price to drop because you've played CT before?

Heck yes I would buy it and I'd pay the full amount even though it's a remake. I wouldn't pay $60 for any game, but $40 - $50 is the sweet spot. It's in 3D with hours worth of new content.

Bonus question: If Square were to do something like this, would Chrono Trigger 3D sell as much as Final Fantasy XIII in one week?

I say no, because these gamers today have forgotten about games like Chrono Trigger.

Maybe, I rather them just make a new sequel in the Chrono series though. One thing I've wanted forever is a proper Secret Of Mana sequel, instead of the craptastic sequels and games they've put out in the SoM world. I can't believe they let such an awesome and promising IP go down the drain like that.

There was a sort of sequel to Chrono Trigger called Chrono Cross for PS2.

Yes Yes and more Yes, but only if they kept the same character design. Any changes to that and it would be a deal breaker to me.

One of the best RPG's ever created? sure! But then again I'm afraid that SE just can't make it as good as the original.

No. I'm a bigger fan of Chrono Cross and more interested in sequels instead of remakes. They're taking long enough remastering Final Fantasy X.

I'd give it a go I enjoyed the old ones. But Square should leave those series alone especially the direction they are heading now. Sell the IP's to someone more capable. Most of the original staff members already left Square.

Hahaha I've actually been replaying Chrono Trigger this past week during down time at work.
I might buy it, but not for full $60 retail price.

Do I want them to? No.
Would I rather a sequel? Yes
Would I still buy a remake day one? Most certainly. I would likely be one of the first few in line.

Loved Chrono Trigger. Wasn't a big fan of Chrono Cross, but that's probably my own fault for expecting another Chrono Trigger-esque game. I have to wonder though, why would they add new endings? The game has so many already. Not saying there's anything wrong with doing so, it would just make for so many different possible endings to the game. Overall though, I would prefer they just make a sequel to the series. One that completely explains how the previous two mixed in with eachother, and then developing the lore from there.

Absolutely! I've been clinging to hope that we would get a Chrono Trigger remake but honestly it feels as hopeless as wanting a FF 7 remake. Just don't think is in the cards.

    No...I wouldn't...

I feel like this gen has been the absolute worst when it comes to things like this...at least as far as I can remember...
I'm honestly sick of hearing about old games being remade...I don't think I've ever been excited to buy what's essentially the same thing that was, and in most cases, still is, available for an older gaming system, and even less so if I already had a chance to dive into the experience when it was first released...

It never fails tho; some developer will tweet or post or mention via interview that they have an announcement or a surprise, and I'll get excited thinking "Awesome, finally, a sequel to ______" or "Bout time we got a new IP!"...but what inevitably happens? Big surprise turns out to be the same thing we had years ago already, with MAYBE a trophy or two thrown in, or *gasp* UPDATED VISUALS that usually amount to looking like $#@! in HD...so my turns into and I'm just stuck looking at this supposed megasuperultraton reveal thinking about how much I just don't gawddamn care!!!...

It's almost as bad as when that certain fighting game that came out a few years ago sees what's pretty much a rerelease damn near semi-annually with a character or two thrown in and some stupid quantifier added to the name of it, like "super", or "omega", or "omg you're gonna wanna kill yourself version"...

I agree with Suzano mate.If things get remade it feels like they are taking away the nostalgia from it.

It was on the PS1, not the PS2.
Same here, i prefered Chrono Cross.
I did enjoy trigger and wouldnt mind a remake. It would most likely end up a handheld or mobile remake tho.
