In game recording and video editing

So currently I am using Fraps. I am wondering if there are better video recording software out there for games. Also what is a very noob friendly video editing software.

I've always thought Fraps was one of the better recorders. Probably best to stick with that. As for video editing. Lightworks is pretty good, not noob friendly though

Play Claw if you want some extra features.
Has overlays for CPU and GPU usage, Memory usage, Teamspeak and other things.
Can be setup to take a screenshot every X seconds.
I think the quality of videos is slightly better than Fraps

    http://www.playclaw.com/order.php

    Not cheap though.

In this day and age new games should have a feature of recordign built in that doesn't suck CPU or frame rates, its been in every Quake game since 1996.

I was using Camtasia but now I'm waiting for Nvidia to release their game recorder with the next set of drivers, that way I won't have any drop off on performance while recording directly to h264 format.

I use Movie Studio Platinum 12 and that's really good for editing, it has advanced stuff in there but I hardly use it, it cost me around 30 which I thought was really good. This is something I put together using the software if you want to check it out, I edited the footage and recorded myself playing guitar then just chucked it all together.

be sure to chuck it on HD haha :P

Also one thing that is really useful with this software is when you start a project you can select what sort of movie you are making, say its for DVD, Blu-ray or an Internet video, it also has an option to 'match media settings' which is really useful if you record audio seperate from your footage. Say you recorded your footage at 30 frames per second, if you match the settings then anything you import into your project will also be set to the same fps which helps to stop audio/video going out of sync over the period of the video.

Thanks for responses. I have some good options now. I am assuming the video options can shrink the size of video? Uploading one now that's 5 min and 10gb and takes a while haha.

Fraps has been the best for years from what I know. Just make sure you have a good CPU for all that lossless video capture.

There should be video editing programs that let you choose the level of compression and quality of the video. Video compression can make a 10GB movie into a 100MB movie if done right.
