For the average consumer, yes. Given what is packed into the PSX, absolutely not. You get what you pay for. I dont remember the price of it..but Im pretty sure it's roughly around $700.

for what the psx is and has got its actually very well priced and it does the jobs of lots of other things saving space and all
if you have that kind of money to throw around its definitely worth getting
but for us teenagers who don’t then we will just have to give it a miss

Well, I don't care 'bout it. they could make it $2000 and I wouldn't care, cause i'll be happy with my new ps3, and that's it.

If the PSX does not suet your needs than don't get it. I already have everything the PSX had ot offer, so for me it does not suet me one bit.

i highly doubt that the ps3 will have all the functionality as the psx or a hdd as big as even the 160GB version but only time will tell i guess

I dint mean that if i didnt buy it it would die. I just hope there are enough Die Hard fans out there. Alot of companies spend more money producing the comsoles in mass than gaining from it.

You get what you pay for, as I have already stated. Sony wasnt aiming for the average gamer so they could care less what we think. The PSX is for hardcore followers or the people that have the cash to blow.

Yea thats true. And Sony doesn't plan on spending too much on the PSX, its just the appetizer for the upcoming PS3. Sony is not really mass producing it at all, because they are aware of the fact that not many people would buy it. Its also for people who travel a lot I suppose, when they're in the hotels and getting bored, its like "hey lookie here! I have a DVD and PS2 player all in one!" So yea something like that.

    Ken Kutaragi "PS3 Too Cheap"

    Ken Kutaragi "PS3 Too Cheap"
    By: Justin Pinter

Ken Kutaragi, head hancho of Sony Computer Entertainment was quoted today saying that the PS3 is "probably too cheap."

After the Sony Press Confrence many people were upset with the announcment of the PS3 costing anywhere from $500 for the 20GB console to $600 for the 60GB system featuring HDMI, wifi, and extra slots for memory cards and such.

Kutaragi spoke on the systems behalf by stating, "This is the PS3 price. Expensive, cheap -- we don't want you to think of it in terms of game machines. Because the PS3 is like nothing else.

For instance, is it not nonsense to compare the charge for dinner at the company cafeteria with dinner at a fine restaurant? It's a question of what you can do with that game machine. If you can have an amazing experience, we believe price is not a problem.

When we announced the PlayStation price, it was said to be expensive. Same for the PlayStation 2. However, when released, both had sales that were unthinkable for previous game machines. This is because both offered experiences that could not be had on previous game machines.

With the PS3, you can have next generation game experiences that could previously not be experienced -- things like next generation graphics and various services via the network. And, as with the PS and PS2, we believe people who like games will, without question, purchase it."

With that last note, Kutaragi sounds pretty sure of himself in that no matter the price people will buy a game console if they enjoy the games. Also, if you really look at it, you are getting about $3000 worth of hardware and entertainment for the price of only $600 if you went out and bought everything stand alone. With 2 million PS3's set to ship on launch and certainly set to sell out, people worried about the price can always wait until next year when price drops, and seeing as how if you dont pony up the money now and reserve it, you will have to wait anyway.
