Why the hell didnt Sont put R2 and L2 triggers in the Vita?

Seriously, I don't get it. Could they just not fit it on the device? I doubt it.
Especially with the PS4's remote play coming soon, it just doesn't make sense to exclude them from the Vita.
I hope they didnt purposely leave them out so they can release a new version later on so I have to buy another one.
Anyways I was just curious if anyone new of any reasons why Sony had to leave out what is a very important part of being able to control games. I mean the Vita and remote play for the PS4 was always part of the plan for the Vita, so why leave it out?

They dont have to be full on triggers but just another set like L1 and R1, or something similar.
It just doesn't make sense to me to leave out such an important part of the controller when using remote play with PS4. If remote play was never a part of the vita then it wouldn't be such a big deal, IMO.

touch screen on the back could easily be used as a substitute for the triggers

granted it will lack any feedback whatsoever, it would act more like a button then a trigger. but its doable if the need was great enough

I've played some games that has the rear touch pad as a 50/50 split for L2 and R2 and it isn't too bad.

I think I'd have preferred L3 and R3 on the thumb sticks to be honest, mainly for sprint and crouch/prone in FPS's.

I wonder if this is why we haven't seen PS2 Classics on the PS Vita store.

I agree that the rear TP works well and is very responsive, but even so it isn't anywhere as good as a actuall button. I myself dislike having to use the rear TP for anything important, but that's me.
If remote play with the PS4 was always the plan with the Vita then it doesn't make sense for them to leave them out other than to make a new version later on that has them to make more money off the 20 people that already have one.

There won't be a new one, my guess is the back touch was the plan all along.

I really don't understand your issue. What would R2 and L2 do that R1 and L1 can't do now? I mean I never use R2 and L2 in COD or any decent FPS. My real issue is the analog sticks not being clickable....indeed that would have been more important to me. I mean you can't ADS with L1 and shoot with R1? I would find clickable analog sticks more useful like someone else said...for running...

My issue is remote play for PS4.
If remote play was always the plan with the Vita and PS4 then why make them have different controls?
I guess I just cant stand using the rear TP for button inputs.
I also agree with you about the sticks not being clickable.
Since there not clickable it would be awesome if you could push them into the console so there flush with the surface which would allow you to put it in your pocket without worrying about breaking them.

There are some PS1 games that required R2/3 and L2/3 and the rear touch pad is split in quarters. While you're speculating about this it is already in place.

They have that nice accessory port to the right of the vita cart slot. No telling what they'll release as an add on peripheral come ps4.

A more interesting question is why L3/R3 aren't there since it wouldn't have added any thickness to the system, they click down less than a mm on DualShocks.
