Agreed, it looks fantastic. I hope the gameplay matches the visuals.

They need to get there engine out there, there is no reason this coming generation should be dominated by the unreal engine again

2012 blew by incredibly fast. If I had to sum the year up into three categories it would be:

    • RYSE / CINEBOX: At Crytek, for the first time ever I broke away from the Crysis franchise and have been working on Ryse with my old friend Hanno Hagedorn, who returned to Crytek this year. In my ’20% time’ I am still on CINEBOX, which saw some of it’s first production use this year on some high profile film and game projects, but I can’t say much more than that.

    Just to bring into context.

Is this the best looking game on nxt-gen so far? Is it the poorest or 2nd poorest gameplay wise though?

Any chance this game is going to be good? To me it looks as if it was made for Kinect...Realized it was $#@! with Kinect and changed it to the pad far too much into development.

What we seen so far from e3 was an early pre-alpha version that had limited play mechanics and AI. The Gamescom playable demos will be beta version with impproved graphics, play mechanics and AI.

Um, maybe I'm reading this wrong but as far as I can tell Cinebox is a way to use the Crysis engine for previsualization of movies, it has nothing at all to do with Ryse, except that one of the people working on Ryse worked on Cinebox (he mentions it as what he's doing in his 20% time). I think someone misread the post.

Also looks like it could be more for machinima stuff, which is still cool. Or a development of WUSIWUG that crytek made for the engine

Maybe one of them - I'd still put MGSV, The Division, and Infamous, KZ; as 'better looking' than it though. In saying that - different strokes and all that.

Gameplay wise, I quite like it (from what I've seen) despite what others say.

    #IndieStation4 and proud of it.

Don't forget The Order 1886. In my oppinion it's the best looking next-gen game.

Maybe - but we've yet to see confirmed gameplay visuals (yes that was in-engine - but my point stands).

Yes, i'm thinking that as well.
Ryse seems to slip into canned battle shots, maybe that's where Cinebox comes in.
Namco seems to have something similar (unadvertised) for rendering CG scenes in Tekken and SoulCalibur titles, same engine, but higher detail when pre-programmed.

Yep, same here. I disagree about gameplay of Ryse though. You can tell that it used to be a Kinect game as far as gameplay goes.

Maybe the environments but Ryse character animations looks stunning.

Wouldn't surprise me, especially i their using the latest CryEngine - they did a really good "old man face".

I sigh every time someone says this.

    *sigh*

And then I post this article:

    http://blog.us.playstation.com/2013/...playstation-4/

We also strived to create a seamless experience when it came to the game. The idea was to make sure that you never saw any visual discrepancies or breaks in continuity between gameplay and cinematic. Our game models and our cinematic models are one and the same, and everything is rendered real time in the engine as you play the game. The trailer we presented is a great example of that. What you saw is running in-engine, in-game with no gimmicks. These visuals are what you can expect of the final game when you play it.
