GfWL is officially on its way to its grave

GfWL service can go to hell. It was one of the most pathetic piece of service to grace the pc gaming.

Xbox.com's PC marketplace is shutting down

Microsoft will be removing the option to purchase PC games over Xbox.com on 22nd August, when an Xbox 360 update will remove the much derided Microsoft Points in lieu of using various local currencies.

With the hiring of the ex-Steam boss; coupled with this news, maybe MS is going to come up with a Steam-like client? I didn't mention Origin, because MS won't screwup accounts like EA has...

Maybe they will redo another Steam like client but I doubt they want to use the brand name Games For Windows Live. The name of such atrocious piece of garbage has permanently burned in the minds of many pc gamers as the service that tries to kill pc gaming.

One thing it does have on Steam is Origin starts up quicker.
But the ads cannot be turned off unlike in steam.

It's not the GFWL client at all thats dead its the website to GFWL thats getting shut down the client will still be very much working because most of the games like Fable 3 require the dam thing when you install as it requires to call back home and register to with your Live account profile.
