Whatever Gaikai will mean to Sony, it is seemingly unrelated to the other cloud pursuits.

That's true but Sony I guess was in the works to using another cloud based service for dedicated servers also.

    here's the link.

yea, it seems more like Netflix because of all the streaming media.

    see above link sport.
How is it more flexible than the others?

How does adding 45 million Xbox Live subscribers (if they upgrade to Xbox One) mean the cloud technology Microsoft is using, is more flexible?

They don't have to upgrade to get the benefits.

Azure was already one of the more flexible ones out there. You have others like Amazon which is mostly about e-commerce , but MS cloud is about a bit of everything. Not saying that others aren't capable of doing it because amazon does offer computing services too.

I don't see how that makes it more flexible. It's convenient for current Xbox Live subscribers if they get the benefits of it without needing to get an Xbox One.

I am a little curious now though, what kind of benefits do users who don't upgrade, get from Microsoft's cloud?

Going back to the other discussion, the other cloud services don't have "subscribers"?

You do realize that Amazon uses their cloud as storage for mp3 music? People who buy music through Amazon get a cloud service by default.......not sure how any of this makes a service more flexible though.

Like Sufi said, what exactly do you mean when you say it's flexible? How is Azure already one of the more flexible ones out there?

i take it to be that Sony's cloud revolves around game streaming once it's up and running while MS and it's cloud is for compute help with games etc.

i look at what MS has spent developing it's cloud over what i see Sony has and MS's is on an altogether different level.

will it work.... not long to find out.

MS is going to likely bring out their own game streaming service. It was talked about in the leaked document for 2015.

Destiny and Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor is all I need for the rest of the year.

LOL so MS Cloud is suppose to be better than sony's because of 300,000 dedicated servers? lets first see how cloud effects both systems first before we bash out of the mouths first.

We already had a discussion in the forums earlier that it won't boast graphics that much. So lets see first where and how far it is going to go first.

Reality is we know next to nothing about either cloud service other than 300,000 servers, cloud computing, driveatar and whole load of PR BS from MS about making games 600% better or 4x more powerful or WTF ever they said. Nor do we know anything about Sony's other than it has the Gaikai infrastructure which it will use to stream its back catalog to PS3, 4 and Vita and that they are working with Rackspace on implementing OpenStack cloud technology which seems to deal with networking, computing and storage among other things. Everything else, unless links are provided, is speculation and we will have to wait for further details to be able to engage in any kind of intelligent discussion on this.

Let's not turn this into the usual one-upmanship deal when we really know nothing. Bring info, links and references so we can educate ourselves!

Guys talking about pals/allys/partners-in-crime isn't conducive to a healthy thread so please desist from bringing it up. This includes talking about how certain packs are "doing the rounds". I don't care to see people catagorising groups of members into posses; I care to see some damn info so that this matter can be discussed in a constructive manner.
