The new next generation Xbox One will be launching later this year, but unfortunately will not be arriving in all the countries Microsoft hoped to reach in its first production roll out.
However Microsoft has confirmed some news that might bring a smile to anyone looking to own a new Xbox One console later this year, confirming that Xbox One games will not be region locked as first thought.
In an interview with the Eurogamer website late last week Microsoft confirmed that there new Xbox One console would allow games to be played from any region.
“When the console launches this November, we will support Xbox One in 13 markets,”-”Xbox One may be used in all countries, including the non-launched markets. In addition, Xbox One games are not region locked. Any Xbox One game purchased at retail can be used in any country on any Xbox One.”
Rather than launching their new Xbox One in 21 countries as hoped, Microsoft will only be able to launch their next generation console in 13.
“Xbox One will launch first in the US, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Australia, New Zealand, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Ireland and Austria in November 2013. The system will launch in other markets, including Russia, Belgium, Netherlands, Switzerland, Sweden, Norway, Finland, and Denmark in 2014.”
To re-cap the Microsoft Xbox One is powered by a customised AMD Jaguar 8 core processor and will feature a graphics processor that is tailored for Direct X 11. graphics and comes with 32MB of high bandwidth embedded ESRAM.
The 8GB of RAM on the Xbox One is DDR3, and will be capable of supporting full HD video in 1080p and the new 4k uktra high definition video format, it will also offer full 7.1 surround sound support.
