Thumbs down EA: We don't deliver offline experiences any more

This sucks for those that buy E.A games for off line experiences

Oh well. I guess I can safely cross off EA games save for the sports games.

meh, not me. I mean, I will continue to get Battlefield and stuff like that. SimCity is another story even the new one was very barebones and the fact you can't really mod. EA games by themselves are pretty meh, but from branches like DICE it's much better.

I think it's meant more along the lines of no more offline only titles, in that they're going to shoehorn at least some sort of online feature into every game. That though, isn't much better. And I could of course be wrong.

Another reason to hate EA. They will never see a penny from me.

Well, the so-called worst company in the world can make statements like that because they know enough people will pick up the latest Battlefield, Mass Effect or Star Wars: Battlefront. I don't care for EA and I do value single-player experiences but I think more people care for online experiences so how much harm would they be doing, really?

What about games like Dead Space. Will they be co-op only?

I think this would be the least evil way to go about it. And if the SP doesn't suffer or has a tacked on online feature, then I'm ok with that.

i wished they concentrated all their efforts into the online of BF3 and BF4, the previous games were multiplayer only.

Haha, that's just awesome. Can't say I'm personally upset. I don't buy EA games anymore anyway. Unless I get a real sequel to MVP baseball 2005. But that won't happen, so it doesn't matter. But I admire the balls on EA. I thought Bobby Dickmouth and Activision had some jiggles of steel, but EA just went HAM.

ME is in the humble origins bundle, should grant it a bit more attention. I doubt people will want a different style of game for the sequel.

So, Dragon's Age 3 and the new Mass Effect will be online only? Not liking where they're going. I can understand the likes of Battlefield using this model but it won't do well with certain games.

Not quite, what this means, is that Dragons age 3 and Mass effect 4 will not be offline only games. There will be some sort of multi-player in both. youll never see another EA game that is just a standalone single player game. Which to me is retarded.

It means that they are bringing online features to the game, not necessarily requiring the game be online. Roster updates, real time game updates from the real life etc., are from online features. EA games back in the day were what you got shipped and that was it.

Well, games have been like that for the last 4 or 5 years. What I gathered from this is that online is the important mode whereas single-player experiences are the "Tacked-on" part of the game.

It's about offline and online, not single player aspects. Even offline games have multiplayer.

Yes, it's been four, five years. That's what he's talking about. They have been giving that kind of experience. It broadens the scope of a game. Nothing wrong with that idea. I doubt they turn back.
