It's not about sacrificing, a next-gen fighting game should have both. However, I believe it has more to do with the developer, not the hardware.

so is it the opinion of many that killer instinct running at only 720p is some how a poor show and they will not play this free game on there rather spanking new Xbox?

I don't think they ever targeted 1080P. If this game was 1080P you probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference, but if was only 30FPS you would easily see that.

You can easily see the difference between 720p and 1080p.

It is noticeable, that's why I play multiplatform games on the PC.

I doubt this will be a real issue. The 360 has maybe a handful of true 720p games over the course of how many years now? Eight!! Couple that with the eyecandy that KI will have.. I don't think it's realistic to say it's next-gen, therefore needs to be 1080p.

I don't know why it isn't, and I surely would be even happier to see it run at a 1080p native res, with all the eyecandy @60fps.

I don't understand that, my 32" Full HD TV looks much sharper than a 720p one.

It's a fighting game, current gen fighters managed 720p 60 fps quite nicely.

Depends on seating distance. 4ft away from that 32" for full 1080p benefits. At about 6ft, it's only 720p no matter if it's a 1080p screen.

Two different tv's right? How far away are you, and what is the size of the other one? Much further means you're seeing differences in the quality of the picture, not the resolution. That means KI @720p won't suffer for you.

Yeah, it's not noticeable in specific circumstances. That doesn't change my point at all. Why not settle for 480p then and just sit 12 feet away? And I can easily see the difference below 30 inches.

Two 32" TV's. What do you mean by that? The quality that the TV itself produces or the quality the resolution gives? The smaller picture is even apparent on my laptop.

E:It's apparent with 720p and 1080p content as well.

    8-9 feet? 3 meters.

E: Sorry, that might've been a test with the 42" one. Don't remember how far I was with the 32" TV.

I'll have to do the tests again when I'm home.

That distance, you shouldn't be able to notice any difference between 720p and 1080p on a 32". I dunno what else to tell you there. At 8ft, you'd need a 40" tv to start even seeing the benefit of 1080p.
You might be seeing some artifacts, like pixel density, noise, etc., but not and real difference measurable at that distance for a 32" tv.

So, for the game at hand, 720p instead of 1080p isn't going to be a killer.

Don't know. Don't have anything to compare it to. They don't make 3 inch TVs.

Here's my point about the PS4 and why I always compare it to my 'lesser' rig.
    I have 24GB DDR 1600 in an i7 970 with a Radeon 6950 2GB.
It runs on a 27in 1080p LG Monitor.

I run EVERYTHING at 1080p on that.
Yeah, not EVERYTHING is turned on on every game, but, honestly, 8xAA or 16xMSAA is just not necessary at that resolution!!!
Some things , yes, with really funky REGULAR textures which cause certain visual artifacts it CAN be useful, but most testures are IRREGULAR, or at least not so much regular that they cause those visual optical illusion things that need extra smoothing.

I dialed it back to 12GB (if you know , you know this is an X58, triple channel system, so i'm still maxing DDR3 bandwidth channels).
Honestly, no game seemed to max that out. I don't have the newest BF, but, Crysis 3 ran silky and looked aces.

NOW, is the PS4 'as' powerful? No, yes, but no. It's a hair back on CPU, but the extra memory bandwidth and abundance of extra RAM that the GPU can address will balance out some things. But, nothing used all 12 of my threads either, usually about 4...
So, if games are programmed to use all 8 cpu cores and max out this platform, then, it will be very much like playing games maxed out on my rig.

GAMES LOOK FANTASTIC ON THAT THING.
And, they just move a bit smoother on my 64GB i7 3930K (I got them cheap because I used to do some work for Intel and got the Edge discount, I normally don't buy this high end of a device, but, Opportunity knocked!). A NV670 OC 3GB in that and, yep, it's a bit different, they have a nice new take on AA that looks fantastic. But, I'll never knock my other rig.

    EITHER WAY...
The PS4 should be able to render all games at 1080p, or, they can scale back and blast framerates and loads more at 720p for some things, thats ALWAYS an option. Regardless, waggle your tongues and tails all you want, the XBO has alot less shaders and the CPU IS THE SAME, so, sorry, that's just not going to hold up to my rig. You can't compensate for shaders on a Jaguar CPU, that's just nonsensical doubletalk, and your programmers can't fake it for you either. If they could, I'd be playing Halo 4 on my 16 bit Genesis, because it has BLAST PROCESSING!!!

I will say this article is bogus and a lie because Digital Foundry commented on the game at e3 and says 1080p 60fps.
