Timesplitters Rewind In Development For PS4

Timesplitters Rewind, the community project being developed using the CryEngine3 with the blessing of Crytek is now being developed for PlayStation 4 as well as the PC.
Gaming Blend spoke to Michael Hubicka, the project lead on Timesplitters Rewind, and he revealed that work is about to begin on a PS4 version of the game.
“We’re actually going to go ahead and start development [of Timesplitters Rewind] on PlayStation 4. Just because we’re pretty confident Crytek’s going to say go ahead and do it. But we don’t want them saying go ahead and do it when we’re caught with our pants down and we’re like halfway through development and [then] start something for the PlayStation 4.
“So we decided that since they released the SDK to allow us to do this, we’re going to go ahead and do it ourselves, and when they say ‘yes’ or ‘no’ we can decide what to do with that. For now we’re just going to go ahead and do it. So at least we’re prepared.”
At present there is no news on an Xbox One version of the game, “In terms of the Xbox One, we haven’t really looked into the development behind it, because there’s still a lot of details we need to look into,” said Michael.

I've never played a timesplitter title before. Hopefully they can stay true to the series along with bringing in the progress shooters have made over the 360/ps3 era. I'll be keeping watch on how this turns out.

This is very welcome news!! But yeah, it'll probably be hard to recapture the magic, the landscape is just so different now.

It's all about massive amounts of crazy characters, weapons and game modes. (I believe they may have even been the first to ever offer a zombie mode).

Future Perfect had 150 characters such as -

And seeing this guy or a monkey holding a TommyGun is quite funny.

Best of all a lot of it was unlockables so you had to actually work hard to get some of the good stuff, meaning many hours being spent to get everything.

Don't expect this to release next year or the year after. Black Mesa was in development for almost a decade

From what I've read, the Source engine is very difficult to develop with. I'm sure that's just one of many reasons why.

IT is but not 10 years difficult
To load textures into a map you have to create a text file telling the engine where it is located and how you want the texture to behave, e.g is it translucent, bump mapped, and so on it gets a lot of criticism for that from many devs and modders.
The main reason is the guys did it all in their spare time and do not have full access to the source code of the engine since its a free mod.

I've heard TimeSplitters 1 isn't very good. However my best friend and I had hours and hours of fun playing TimeSplitters 2 on Game Cube. Co-p was awesome, and playing couch multiplayer was also really fun. I hope this comes to PS4 so we can relive that.

Its definitely coming out for PC since the Cryengine SDK is free of charge.
    http://mycryengine.com/

Att he moment the greenlght doesn't mean much to this game since it so far off being finished but normally developers add their game to gain support for it to be distributed by steam.

The magic of the time splitter series has died down since like 6 years ago I mean it's missed like twisted metal was but the sales for that game didnt really do that well and will probably be the same as this
