Dualshock 4 to natively work as PC controller

    This is nice...damn nice!

    http://levelsave.com/playstation-4s-...ork-computers/

According to Redditor dzle, the developers of Galak-Z confirmed last weekend at PAX Prime in Seattle that all PlayStation 4 controllers will work on computers simply by plugging them in via the micro-usb connector without any finagling. It is also reported that the touchpad will also be able to be mapped like the touchpad on your everyday laptop. If this all comes to be true, the PlayStation 4 may just become the next generation controller you have to have for PC gaming.
According to the Redditor, “Galak-Z currently is not stable on the PS4. Thus they had PCs with DS4s [Dualshock 4's] on the show floor running the game. I asked if this implied the PS4 controller works on PC, which he said ‘yes it works as a regular USB controller’.” Also implying that the PlayStation 4′s Dualshock 4 will work as a simple plug-and-play controller, possibly even with bluetooth (if we’re lucky.)
As it stands, most gamers prefer the Xbox 360 controller for the most comfortable computer gaming – we’ll have to see how that opinion fares come November 22nd when both competitors consoles go head to head.
We’ve reached out to Galak-Z and Sony to confirm this and will update should we hear back.
Update: Galak-Z’s Team has gotten back to us. Stating: “We have no official comment on this rumor. Nor do we have any comment on the conversation nor context of any related conversation.”

Awesome news! I currently use my 360 pad for a few games on my PC. Great to know that I can use the DS4 on my PC as well. I expect games will still get native Xbox button prompts but as long as the DS4 works with it normally i really wouldn't mind!

Hopefully it won't always need a wire. If you could connect via bluetooth then it'll be amazing. I have to use this usb receiver for my 360 pads but if it was running of bluetooth it would make life so simple!

I am hoping I really like the DS4 controller. I never caught on to the other DS's, but it looks like the new one has a bit more heft to it and a little bigger, with the sticks a little further apart. That might help me. With added PC support, I could see myself like BBK and adding that as one of my controller options.

Yeah, I am pretty excited as well! I hope that it allows you to use it via bluetooth and not just as a wired controller, would be nice to be able to just sync it to a phone/tablet/Ouya etc as well!

Caught wind of this earlier this week and I've got to say - this is very welcome news! Will pre-order a second controller for this feature.

With third party software, and disabling driver enforcement, I currently use my sixaxis DS3. This would be hugely easier.. assuming it can be used with games with 360 support/whatever is the best widely supported gamepad.

Brilliant news, the driver's I used to use for the PS3 controller were always temperamental at best.

    It makes perfect t sense.
If the touch pad is as responsive as they say then it would work so well with a PC being able to comfortably use any mouse control that isn't movement. I could see it making PC gaming with a controller more convenient especially if I can just sync it via Bluetooth, navigate my mouse with the touchpad to open steam, then whatever game I want, and start playing said game all with the DS4.
That is what Im hoping for.

Nice! I had to buy a 360 controller for PC. Me and that thing never really meshed well. It seems like I saw an article after I bought it that you could use a PS3 controller plugged in and it would work. Is that false?

I'm sure there's some free drivers that allow you to use your PS3 controller pretty well, but
If you don't mind spending a little money this adapter is what I use and I love it,

    http://www.cronusdevice.com/cronus-device.html

It has never given me any trouble and the mapping software works great.
And it works by just plugging it in if you just want standard controls.
    Also works via Bluetooth.

since it's natively being supported (so I'm guessing officially supported), pretty sure BT would work. you could make that work anyway but it was a pain in the ass and i don't know how reliable because i never used it...all i know is that the controller itself wasn't easy to setup and would break once in a while. I would rejoice if i were you. This makes me want to get back into PC gaming but I must hold myself.

I don't think this means what we want it to mean. Unfortunately. The DS3 is also recognised as a USB controller by your PC, but you still can't use it in most games without an emulator workaround. Sony will have to release official drivers, which isn't confirmed

The DS3 pairs over Bluetooth with Android now. It makes tablet games playable with the controller, and a lot more playable at that. This is great news for the DS4, Bluetooth was emerging 7 years ago, an established standard now. Not sure why people keep regressing on these topics, these news items are not about yesterday, they are about today and tomorrow.

Cool! Didn't know that. I tried to play a few more advanced games on my tablet. Not easy on a 10 inch screen.

The 360 controller has sorta become the gamepad standard for PC games over the last few years, some supporting it even as far back as 2007. It's very convenient as all you have to do is plug it in. It just works. If the DS4 controller can do the same then that makes me very, very happy. I'm all for unified compatibility between things.

But I'm curious as to how this works exactly. Will it be treated as a generic gamepad by Windows? That might not jive nearly as well as the 360 controller then. I guess we'll see.

There's a thread on it at gaf, the touch pad will also work natively. They're excited about that
